Virtual Business - Restaurant
Virtual Business - Restaurant is a series of computer lessons
and projects that give your students hands on experience
running a restaurant. Engage your students with a totally
visual computer simulation of a restaurant that lets them
control location, menu design, staffing, equipment
purchases, restaurant layout, purchasing, marketing,
inventory control, and more! Virtual Business – Restaurant
has plenty of reports and financials as well, including an
income statement, balance sheet, and lots of restaurantspecific reports. This software is now available in online
format for Windows and Mac users.

Personal Financial Education from St. Louis Fed
Learn about the many print and online tools for the
classroom available for free from the St. Louis Fed. These
include printable lesson plans, online courses, personal
finance flash cards, personal finance 101 interactive tools
and smartboard applications.

Quality Business and Marketing Programs Initiative
What is a quality career and technical program? The
Business and Marketing Program Management Committee
put together an initiative for a team of business and
marketing educators from across Iowa, small and large
secondary schools and community colleges to develop a
continuing Iowa Professional Development Plan to research
what makes a quality program.

New Ideas for Using the NEFE High School Financial
Planning Program
Whether you’re a "seasoned" or "new user" of the High
School Financial Planning Program in your classroom
discover new resources and activities to supplement this
curriculum that meets the requirements of the Iowa Core
Curriculum's 21st Century Financial Literacy skills.

Program of Study and Technical Skill Assessments
By July 1, 2012, all school districts must have 75% of the
programs completed as Programs of Study. This includes
having the technical skill assessments approved by a third
party. Discussion on these requirements including examples
of technical skill assessments.

CTE Reporting & Perkins for Teachers
What are CTE teachers in your district required to do to meet
the new Perkins requirements related to Programs of Study
and Technical Skill Attainment measures? Learn the
requirements, the process, the outcomes, and the support
being provided to teachers in your district and the reporting
each district must provide to the State.

Regional Business Advisory Committees
This session will focus on a true partnership which has
developed between educators and business partners. The
Regional Business Advisory Committee (RBAC) from SE
Iowa works to develop goals & agendas, markets business
programs, teams together to ease the work of the Program of
Study and Technical Skill Attainment measures. You'll hear
how they are organized, their process, what they've
accomplished and to top it off--how you can do it too.
