Title: Iron Man
All: I AM IRON MAN
Nellie: The Iron Man walked to the edge of the cliff
Sally: How far did he walk?
All: Nobody knows!
Theo R: Where did he come from?
All: Nobody knows!
Lola B: What happened to him?
All: We’ll tell you.
Theo R: He took one step towards the edge of the cliff
Eva: And one more.
Sally: He stood there, swaying in the sea breeze, as if he were hovering.
Bella: Until….
(Iron man breaks up in all directions)
Bertie: Everything was still, and everything was silent
Lola B: All of a sudden, his enormous hand started moving like a crab on the beach.
Sally: No one know that the iron man had fallen
Theo R: Hopping down the beach, came an inquisitive seagull
Theo V: The seagull picked up one of the Iron Man’s eyes, and took it to his nest.
Bella: The seagull then flew down and picked up the Iron Man’s hand
Bertie: The hand stood up on three fingers, and started to walk about.
Theo V: The Iron Man began to rebuild himself.
Sally: The Iron Man was completely restored, apart from his ear.
Bella: Slowly, he walked into the breaking waves until he was completely submerged.
Nelly: Far away, in another county, a young boy was fishing. His name was Hogarth
Lola K: The water was calm, and the sun was setting. Hogarth wasn’t catching any fish.
Eva: As dusk started drawing in, Hogarth decided to stop fishing and go home.
Theo R: Maggots… reels… rods.
Nelly: As he went to leave, he was stopped in his tracks.
Bertie: Just above the hill, he saw two ginormous green eyes.
Eva: What could they be? Hogarth didn’t stay long enough to see.
Theo R: I must tell father, he’ll know what to do.
Eva: On the way home, Hogarth tried to alert the other farmers.
Theo R: A giant iron man!
Lola K: I don’t have time for children’s stories.
Bella: A giant iron man? I might do something about it… this afternoon.
Eva: (Belly laugh!)
Sally: Hogarth finally reached home.
Theo R: Dad! There’s a giant iron man!
Bertie: I believe you, son.
Nelly: Hogarth’s dad got his shotgun out of the cabinet, and they made their way outside.
Eva: They couldn’t find the iron man, but in the morning there were clues…
Bella: Look! Half a wheel…
Lola K: Half an axel, and half a mudguard.
Sally: All bitten through.
Theo V: But look, more clues!
Bertie: Over the soft soil of the countryside, were giant footprints.
All: Each the size of a single bed.
Nellie: What are we gunna do?
Lola K: I don't know, we have got to try and catch it somehow!
Lola B: The farmers dug a pit.
Bella: I've got a rusty old tractor, we could use it as bait!
(Down stage arm forwards)
Eva: They pulled the tractor into the pit with all their might.
Theo V: They covered the pit in a fine layer of twigs and soil.
Sally: Hogarth waited for the iron man to come, he waited and waited but the iron man didn't
come.
Theo R: IVE GOT AN IDEA! (Clinks spoons together)
All: what are you going to do, Hogarth?!
Bertie: The sky grew dark as the iron man approached.
Theo R: Yes! I've caught him. Father’s going to be so happy!
Theo V: When the hole was filled in, it made a lovely hill. Years later a young family wanted
to have a picnic on the hill.
Lola B: Lashings and lashings of lemonade.
Bella: Oh cucumber sandwiches my favourite!
Lola K: Ooo and homemade flapjacks, what a delight.
Sally: I'll put the whistling kettle on the camping stove. Darling, pass the earl grey.
Nellie: The young family heard a deep rumbling.
Bertie: It grew louder.
Theo R: And louder.
Theo V: AND LOUDER!
Nellie: And then it stopped.
Theo R: All of a sudden, the picnic began to sink into the earth.
Theo V: The iron man stood shining in the sunlight.
Eva: The young family watched in horror, as the iron man chewed on their lovely, red,
whistling kettle.
Lola B: The farmers could do nothing else; they had to make peace with the iron man.
Sally: They offered him use of a scrap yard. And this is where he lived.
Lola K: It was full of metal pieces, so his appetite was satisfied.
Eva: In the meantime the people in the town indulged in their favourite leisure activities.
Nellie: They played tennis.
(Play tennis)
1/2 all: Yes!
Lola K: They went swimming.
(Swim)
Lola K: They went ice skating.
(Ice skate)
Sally: But the thing that they like to do the most was gaze at the stars.
(Make telescope, gaze at stars. Improvised section of dialogue about stars, leaving Sally out,
until her next line.)
Sally: I can see a space bat angel dragon thingy ma bobby thing.
All: A what?
Sally: See for yourself, it's over there.
All: Woah! WOAH! (Move back and make binoculars)
Bella: Where did it go?
LolaB: I don't know, it dipped below the horizon.
Theo V: All of the world’s armies tried to defeat the space bat angel dragon.
Theo R: They needed something really big to defeat something of that size.
Bertie: They had to call upon the iron man.
Lola B: The iron man challenged the space bat angel dragon to a competition.
Nellie: The winner would be the one who could with stand the heat of fire the longest.
Lola K: The iron man was dowsed in petrol.
Bella: And the space bat angel dragon had to fly into the sun.
Sally: They met in Australia, to begin their competition.
Eva: 3...2...1
(Take step forward and push forward with hands, step back, touch toes and put hands up,
fire hands)
Theo R: First round goes to the iron man.
Theo V: Let round two begin
(Rub hands and rise up, touch toes)
Space Bat Angel Dragon: KABOOM! (Then flop down again.)
(following lines are said while getting up very slowly)
Lola B: The space bat angel dragon was burnt to a crisp.
Nelly: He didn't look so scary now.
Lola K: The iron man wanted to know why the space bat angel dragon had come to earth.
Bella: Actually he was very peaceful.
Sally: So the iron man gave him a job.
Eva: He was still able to fly, so he orbited the earth. (All form a circle).
