University
◦ Touch base with advisors if you have questions
◦ Student Resource Center (HSS 239, 405-3533)
◦ Student Success Program (HSS 239, 405-3533)
◦ DPR (degree progress report)
 On your student center
◦ DPRC (disability programs and resource center)
◦ OIP (office of international programs)
◦ SFSU Advising Center (GE or university
requirement questions)
Advising/Help
(don’t ask students)

◦
Check your registration through your Student Center
ALWAYS check your registration after making any changes and BEFORE
deadlines to be sure you are registered properly for your classes.
◦ Protect your GPA (use CR/NC)

Communicate with instructors/email
◦ Go to first day of class (crash) if can’t get class
◦ If registered and you don’t attend 1st day of class, you may be
dropped
• Forward your SF State email to your personal account
• It’s important to get all faculty and university emails, sent from rosters
and ilearn
 Double count major/minor and GE (120 units to graduate)
 Don’t get advice from fellow students!
TIPS

Be very aware of SFSU deadlines! (protect your GPA)
◦ Drop: only 2 weeks into semester
 Drop on your student center
 Instructor is NOT responsible for dropping you
◦ Add: 4 weeks into semester
 Use permission number procured from instructor
 Instructor cannot add you
 If class is “full” go to the first day of class; be an advocate for yourself! Most
classes are offered either Fall or Spring; as a major follow Grad Plan.
◦ CR/NC: about 2 months into semester





Need at least a C- for CR; NC does not hurt GPA
Use this if no documentation to withdraw
Request on your student center
Instructor cannot do this for you
Note: Letter grade (not CR) is required for all major courses (not prereqs)
◦ Withdrawal: Sept 10-Nov 20; Dec 11
 Needs instructor, dept chair, and college dean signatures
 Needs documentation for serious and compelling reason for both W times
Deadlines
Have a good
semester
and
Best wishes
