Strengthening the Youth Sector Project Inter Agency Group Meeting Minutes Wednesday August 6th 2014 Meeting commenced at 10:30am-at Mortlock McCormack Law, 99 Clarence St. Present: Sally Mountfort (Wayne Francis Charitable Trust), Wayne Turp (Canterbury District Health Board), Courtenay Blakeway (Family and Community Services), Leanne McTear (Ministry of Youth Development), Stacey Holbrough (Christchurch City Council, Hamish Flynn (Papanui Youth Development Trust, Michelle Beck ( MYD) Meeting began with a round of introductions and a welcome Michelle Beck from MYD as it was her first meeting. ( attached to the minutes) Work Stream Updates: Youth Participation – Youth Voice Canterbury The meeting on 15 July at Addington café went very well. Kevin presented on Youth wellbeing Survey. Web site is almost ready to go live. Training of youth supporters is being held this month. Launch of the Web site to coincide with September Hui. Funding Proposal being written to CEAT to fund young people who are connected to Youth Voice Canterbury to receive training on leadership SMM-001933-3-403-V7:SMM Youth Employment: Michelle Beck from MYD has been charged with developing a one page snap shot of groups who are operating in the youth employment space such as Canterbury Youth Futures. The purpose of the snap shot is so those organisations who have a vested interest in youth employment know what these groups are working on and also so each of the groups know what each other is working on. ? How are the key messages being conveyed into the wider community? etc, She is to prepare a ‘dummies guide to youth employment’ SYS believe that this action would benefit from having someone from education being part of the Youth Employment Work Stream group and on SYSP Inter Agency Group Murray Roberts has replaced Adele Peart Ballie as regional manager of Ministry of Education. John will talk to Murray about inviting some-one from Education to be on SYS. ACTION John Harrington Murray Roberts be invited to appoint MoE rep on SYS Youth Charter: Strategy Sub Committee Following on from meeting with Philanthropic funders, good progress made. Job Description has been developed; the background document needs to be edited and formal application made to funders. Board of CYWC need to confirm they hare happy for Charter to sit under them Action Point Youth Charter: The Document Sub Committee Edits to the explanatory document accompanying the Charter is complete. Youth Friendly Places and Spaces: Have been talking to Neat Places, Developing a map of youth friendly places and spaces a good idea. Still putting finishing touches to the checklist card design. – to be trialled with a group of friendlies for feedback . .Next step – Audit some organisation to get the audit process right. Looking at how it might connect with Amazing Places. Up date on the report cards for each of the work streams -Results Based Accountability (RBA) So far Courtenay has worked with Youth Voice Canterbury and Youth Friendly Places and Spaces.(YFPS) The conversation with YFPS was more about who the group were. More discussion needed before defining their role and determining messages of success for the various projects. SMM-001933-3-403-V7:SMM Courtenay suggested a subcommittee be formed to support the RBA role out across the other work streams. ACTION Agenda Item – Establish an RBA sub committee John Harrington Capacity building: Refer Johns Report Memorandum of Understanding: Breakfast confirmed. W FCT has agreed to fund the breakfast.
