Training System Cognisant Engineer Job Reference: LM People Job Code/Title: Location: Programme / Functional Group: MST11156 E1463I / Systems Engineer Sr Havant MST IS - Crowsnest Description of Business Environment: Lockheed Martin UK Ltd Integrated Systems (LM UKIS) is the Prime Contractor for the Merlin Mk2 Weapons System and is actively pursuing new business opportunities within the Merlin franchise. The Merlin Training System programme is in the process of being extended due to CROWSNEST and other changes to the Merlin Mk2 platform. This position is for an experienced system engineer within the Training System (TS) IPT. The successful candidate will have technical ownership of a number of TS related activities through requirements development, subsystem design & development, production, integration, subsystem and system integration problem resolution, performance proving and customer & vendor sell-off. Specific Job Description: The candidate will have a complete understanding of the Training System on the MCSP program and will be responsible for completing engineering analysis, specification, development support, integration and qualification of the Training system within the Training System Integrated Product Team (IPT). The candidate will report to the Training System IPT Lead and MCSP Senior Technical Leadership, collaborating with other IPT members for other elements of the training system to include tactical system, and air vehicle/avionics (Agusta Westland). Specific tasks will include: Liaise with the Training system vendors (CAE Inc.) to facilitate completion of the Training System programme, including enhancements, in line with MCSP programme milestones Liaise with other IPT test teams, flight test teams and other test engineers Review and approve vendor documentation for Training System, including Test Plans, Schedules, Reports and future proposals Be responsible for the functional aspects of the Training System, to include customer/user satisfaction within the overall system as specified Take ownership of SRD (including TLS), SS and SSS requirements and work these through to sell off in accordance with MCSP programme milestones Be responsible for Training System IPT Technical work products as assigned by the IPT lead or IPT tech lead Resolve assigned PTRs, provide input to PTR metrics and support PTRA and PTRB as required Respond to Observations applicable to the Training System Support operational trials planning, data gathering and analysis Conduct Data Analysis, in support of resolution of PTRs and Observations Own the completion of assigned IPT Technical tasks Liaise with, and co-ordinate input from Engineering Specialists Provide input to subcontract programme management and cost estimation teams Sponsor CRs and concessions through CCB Review and approve limitations associated with Training System and assess impact to aircraft and Training System operation In time, and subject to approval through the Competency Management System (CMS) take on signatory responsibility for Training System CoDs and associated work products (including internal DA checklists) The Training System cognisant engineer must be a champion of teamwork and foster a team environment that encourages ownership and accountability across the functional membership. Required Skills: Training System or Aircraft System Design / Development / Integration / Testing experience, including experience of both hardware and software aspects Knowledge of Training System or Aircraft technologies such as Visual Display Systems, EO/IR & DAS systems Knowledge of Software development techniques including AgileBroad knowledge of computing and networking solutions Strong technical foundation in System Engineering principles and practice Ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. Typical Minimum Education & Experience: Ideally require a Bachelors degree from an accredited college and capability typically achieved through proven professional experience.
