EAGLE RIDGE INSTITUTE EAGLE RIDGE FAMILY TREATMENT CENTER CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TECHNICIAN Job Summary: Responsible for all activities on the floor of the unit during their shift including oversight of various participants and children to appointments and appropriate activities. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Advocate for women and children, especially as related to issues of chemical dependency. 2. Communicate with tact and clarity, while maintaining positive regard for each individual, treating adults and children with mutual respect. Use assertiveness and professional attitude in dealing with clients, staff and other individuals. 3. Work cooperatively with other staff. 4. Maintain case records (progress/shift notes) as appropriate, insuring the completion of all forms and relevant reports including the log. 5. Handle crisis situations. 6. Attend monthly all-staff meetings and other employee development activities, including in-service training. 7. Assist in making referrals to other agencies and taking referrals to this agency. 8. Participate in program planning and researching new approaches and activities to promote the personal growth of residents. 9. Coordinate with staff the responsibility for the safety and security of the facility including emergency procedures, security and all other facility management. 10. Maintain enforcement of house rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. 11. Provide primary support for the childcare providers, performing the same responsibilities, when necessary. 12. Model positive parenting skills for residents and provide support for the mothers and children in reestablishing family relationships. 13. Instruct residents in daily living skills, as is necessary and appropriate. 14. Transport clients, as needed. Knowledge and Skills: 1. Knowledge of chemical dependency and its impact on family systems. 2. Positive and strong communication skills. 3. Confrontation/assertiveness skills. 4. Cooperative work skills. 5. Problem solving skills. 6. Instructional and organizational skills. 7. Must have sensitivity to cultural diversity. 8. CPR and First Aid. Education and Experience: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Two years experience in residential chemical dependency treatment preferred. 3. Must be at least 21 years of age. 4. Prior experience in supervision of employees and scheduling shift coverage preferred. 5. Possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license. 6. Two years of verifiable recovery, if a recovering chemically dependent individual.
