Help Keynsham In Bloom to yarn bomb the railings of the
road bridge into town with bright knitted flowers.
See below for the flower knitting patterns
All flowers knitted in bright coloured double knitting yarn using size 3.00mm (11 needles)

Arrange petals as desired and sew into place.
Cast on 12 stitches
Row 1. Slip 1, knit 11
Row 2. Slip 1, purl 11
Row 3. Slip 1, *k1, yo (yarn over), repeat from* to last st knit 1,
Row 4. Slip 1, purl to end
Continue in stocking stitch (slipping the first st of every row) for 14 more rows.
Row 19. knit 2 tog twice, knit to last 4sts, knit 2 tog twice
Row 20.purl
Repeat row 19 & 20 3times more.
Row 27. knit 2 tog 3 times.
Row 28. Purl
Row 29. knit 3 together fasten off.
Pansy
Plain petal – Cast on 5 sts
Row 1: Inc in each st to end (10 sts)
Row 2: K
Row 3: Inc in each st to the end (20 sts)
Row 4: K
Row 5: Inc in each st to the end (40sts)
Knit 3 rows – cast off; break yarn and fasten off.
Two colour petal
1st colour – cast on 5 sts and work rows 1 – 3 (as above) – break yarn and join on second colour and
work 4 rows in pattern (as above)
Three colour petal
1st colour cast on 5sts and work row 1 (as above) – break yarn and join on second colour – work rows
2 & 3 (as above) – break yarn.
Join in third colour and work pattern from row 4 to end (as above)
Making up
Fold each petal in half right sides together and stitch the cast on edge and sides to form a central
seam. Open out petals. Arrange the petals as desired and sew together.

Outer flower
Cast on 9 sts

Row 3: inc 1, k to end (10 sts)

Row 5: inc 1, k to end (11 sts)

Row 15: K3, cast off 6, K to end.
Row 16: K3, cast on 6 (8 sts)
Rep rows 1 – 16 three times more
and rows 1 – 14 once, then cast off
all sts; break yarn and fasten off
Inner flower

Rep rows 1 – 14 twice more and rows 1 – 12 once,
then cast off all sts; break yarn and fasten off
Centre
Cast on 6 sts
Row 1: cast off 5 sts, turn
Row 2: Cast on 5 sts.
Rep rows 1 and 2 seven times more, then cast off
All sts: break yarn and fasten off.
Making up: Join up two ends of outer flower by stitching the lower corners of the two end petals
together, then run a thread along the base of all the petals and pull up tightly to gather; do the same
with the inner flower and the flower centre. Stitch, the inner flower on top of the outer flower, matching
centres. Stitch the flower centre in place.
