Speaker Bios

Armin Rudd is Principal of ABT Systems LLC, focusing on advanced building technology.

He previously served as a buildings consultant and researcher at Building Science

Corporation for 14 years, and at Florida Solar Energy Center/University of Central Florida for

12 years. With an educational background in mechanical/energy engineering and construction, Armin has over 25 years in the field of buildings research and consulting with a wide range of experience in residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial buildings. His career has been especially focused on space conditioning systems, ventilation, dehumidification, and product development. Armin has authored many technical publications and articles; he is a regular presenter at national conferences, and has been issued 13 U.S. patents.

Galen Staengl, PE, LEED BD+C, CPHC designs cutting-edge energy-efficient heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for green building projects. His diverse background includes work in the chemical process industries, the pharmaceutical industry, and the building construction industry. Throughout his career Galen has worked to bring energy-efficient and sustainable design principles into his projects for award-winning schools, institutional buildings, and office buildings. As President of Staengl Engineering,

Galen has provided design and energy analysis for many buildings intended for LEED certification at the Platinum and Gold levels. Galen is currently providing design and energy analysis for a 30 building campus that intends to achieve Net-Zero energy and water use.

Chris Conway , founder and president of Conway Energy, is a EarthCraft House Virginia technical advisor in the greater Northern Virginia market and is considered to be on the forefront of technology and education in his field. A HERS rater, PassiveHaus consultant and rater, EarthCraft technical advisor and RESNET rater, Conway and his dynamic team specialize in home energy audits, multi-family and single family green building construction and high performance home building consulting services. Prior to launching Conway Energy,

Chris served as an Air Force officer with a diverse six-year career where he attained leadership experience through complex multi-billion dollar projects crossing multiple disciplines within both domestic and international work environments.

Philip Agee serves as the Green Building Technical Manager for EarthCraft Virginia. Philip became involved in the construction industry at age 16 working as a carpenter for a small volume residential contractor. For the last six years he has managed the EarthCraft

Multifamily, Light Commercial, and Net-Zero programs, working with developers, architects, and general contractors to provide technical assistance, design consultations and assist project teams through the EarthCraft certification process. Since 2008, Philip has trained hundreds of building professionals on green building best practices and has managed the successful certification of 10,000+ multifamily units. Philip is a certified Home Energy Rater and a BPI Building Analyst. Philip graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with a degree in Biology, and a minor in Environmental Studies.

Craig A. Imlah is the Senior Commissioning Authority for CPM Scheduling, LLC with over 35 years experience in the design, installation, optimization and now commissioning of

Mechanical and HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) Systems utilized in commercial, industrial and residential applications with major emphasis on the energy efficient operations of said systems. Craig holds a Mechanical Engineering Degree in Heat &

Power Generation from Stevens Institute of Technology.
