MENU PROJECT
Objectives:
 Classify and categorize food items on menu
 Arrange a menu to increase profitability
 Demonstrate to process of creating a menu
Your Task:
Research the food options at your favorite “sit down” restaurant (no fast food). Create a menu that the restaurant
would use in its dining room (static menu). Follow the proceeding steps in creating your menu:
Step 1: Take the static menu that you created for your favorite “sit down” restaurant and evaluate how it
would look as a to go menu. Think about:
o Layout
o What is important to highlight
o Using the same categories
Step 2: Use Adobe InDesign or MS Publisher to create a static menu for your favorite “sit down”
restaurant.
 Your to go menu should include:
o Bi-fold brochure
o Business logo
o Website
o Address
o Phone Number
o Categories (minimum of 6)
o List of ingredients
o Visual aids….Picture of the food option (at least one for each category)
o Price in the proper format (no “$”)
o Uses all layout techniques to strategically place lower cost options
