Terms and Conditions of Entry
The Terms and Conditions detailed below apply to all entrants participating in the Jennings
Rivers Ride organised and operated by Cumbria Special Events Company Limited, Company no 7972111 (herein after referred to as CSEC) for Cumbria Community Foundation,
Registered Charity no 1075120 (herein after referred to as CCF).
Disclaimer: I have read the terms and conditions of entry and understand the nature of this event. I agree that I enter at my own risk and take full responsibility for my safety and actions during the event. I therefore do not hold CSEC or any of its agents/volunteers responsible for any damage or injury sustained to me or my property during the event.
Completion of an entry form or purchase of an entry by every participant acknowledges acceptance of these Terms and Conditions by the participant and / or his/her parent / guardian.
Great care has been taken to plan the routes. Volunteer marshals are situated at key points around the course. Feed stations and basic first aid cover will be provided however participants must be aware that they are solely responsible for their own safety and well being. Riders should ride according to their limits and experience and follow the Highway
Code at all times.
1. The participant accepts that the event they are entering is not a race in any format. All riders should take due care and attention. Riders should not ride more than two cycle’s abreast and ride in a courteous and safe manner.
2. Neither CSEC or CCF accepts responsibility for the actions of the participant nor for the consequences of such actions.
3. Each participant is responsible for providing their own insurance protection for their participation in the event. Payment of the Event Entry fee to CSEC does not include any insurance protection for accident, sickness or negligence of any individual participant. Any accident or injury however caused by the rider's actions will be the full responsibility of said rider.
4. Each participant will be fully responsible for any fees or costs incurred or arising from an accident either involving or caused by the rider. This includes, but is not exclusive to, fees from Police, Air Ambulance, Fire and Rescue and the Ambulance service. If the situation arises that you are not capable of making the decision to call the emergency services, the rider agrees that a member of the CSEC team or a member of the public may call on their behalf. In this situation, the rider still accepts the costs and consequences of such actions.
5. Each participant, upon signing the registration form, agrees that they are physically and mentally capable of riding the distance of the ride. If, during the event, they decide to change their route and distance, then all consequences of this action are theirs.
6. The Event registration form must be completed by a person aged 18 years or over.
Evidence of age may be requested by the Event Organiser. Participants under the age of 18 years will be allowed to participate in the family event with the consent of their parent or legal guardian who must sign the Event Registration Form on behalf of the under-age rider.
The parent / legal guardian must accompany the underage rider throughout the event.
Signing is also an acceptance for the actions and consequences of the underage rider.
Special permission for riders age 16 and over to participate in the middle distance event can be granted at the Event Organisers discretion. The parent / legal guardian must accompany these riders throughout the event.
7. The wearing of a suitably designed cycling-specific helmet is mandatory during the whole riding section of this event. Failure to wear a cycling specific helmet will result in removal from the event. There are no exceptions to this rule.
8. The participant confirms that the cycle they are riding in the event and all of their equipment is of a suitable standard and state of road worthiness.
9. During the event there may be warning signs at appropriate points on the roads. Absence of these signs does not signal the absence of dangers and it is the individual rider's responsibility to make a decision regarding whether to ride or not and to ride according to the road and traffic conditions at all times.
10. Any marked route is shown for guidance only and CSEC does not insist that you use the route shown. Unforeseen events such as an accident, road closure or road works may require the adoption of an alternative route.
11. The participants agree to return to the event centre at the end of their ride and report to a member of staff and return their electronic timing chips. Not doing so may mean that a search is organised and the subsequent cost will be billed to the rider. If a participant is unable to return to the event centre they should inform the event centre by telephone or contact a course marshal as soon as possible.
12. By entering the event, the participant consents to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for promotional purposes by CSEC and/or CCF and its representatives.
13. The Jennings Rivers Ride is held to raise funds to support local charities. Event entry fees cannot be refunded. Up to midnight on the Thursday before the event changes can be made to participant’s / or category of ride with no additional cost. However after midnight on that Thursday any changes to entries will be subject to a surcharge of £6. These changes should be made and paid for on the day of registration.
14. It is the participant’s responsibility to safeguard personal possessions. The organisers cannot take responsibility for loss of personal possessions during the event.
15. If a participant should lose their electronic timing chip during the event, they will be charged £7.50 for a replacement chip and this fee will be taken in the week following the event.
16. The Jennings Rivers Ride is held to raise funds to support local charities. No refund will be made in the case of cancellation of the event due to bad weather or unforeseen circumstances. The organisers will offer entrants a transfer to the rescheduled event (if any) should this occur.
17. Your entry must not be transferred without the organiser’s consent; you must not allow another person to participate in your name.
18. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that they enter their details correctly when completing event registration. By completing the registration process you are confirming that all of the information provided is correct.
19. It is the participant’s responsibility to read all of the event information in full detail including that on the website; the organisers will not take responsibility for error as a consequence of participants not reading pre-race information.
