Introduction 1.1 About this handbook. This document is for communications providers. It gives you information about the B2B product establishment , including the Onramp process, and lists all services which are supported by BT Wholesale via the Business to Business (B2B) Gateway and Web Services Gateway. 1.2 Version Control Please ensure that you have the latest version of this Handbook. 1.3 Further Information. Please refer to the B2B and Web Services pages on the BT Wholesale web site for further information Issue 1.4 – 5th October 2013 Copyright British Telecommunications plc 2013 Page 4 of 16 B2B & Web Services Overview 2. B2B & Web Services Gateways There are two strategic gateways that you can use. They are: 2.1 The B2B Gateway The B2B gateway uses ebXML standards to communicate with you via a reliable messaging interface. To use this you will need a B2B gateway, e.g. Axway Activator or Hermes. There is no fixed message session (asynchronous) and the message flow is reliable. Responses and messages use unique reference keys. 2.2 The Web Service Gateway The Web Services gateway uses WS-I standard technologies to support “synchronous” and “basic callback” message patterns. Note: WS-I terminology comes from the WS-I message exchange pattern terminology. For more information visit http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/webservices/library/ws-iuse/ Issue 1.4 – 5th October 2013 Copyright British Telecommunications plc 2013 Page 5 of 16 B2B & Web Services Overview 3. Products/services offered via the two gateways For ease of reference a glossary of terms is set out towards the end of this guide. Phases of product establishment Below are the different phases of product establishment process. 4.1 Phase 1: Product education and contract signing During this phase, your Account Manager will talk to you about our products and if appropriate you will need to sign the applicable contract(s). The Account Manager is your first point of contact. After this, you will need to complete the applicable customer requirements form(s). This is a simple order document to make sure that you use the correct product establishment process. Before starting the product establishment process you should contact your respective Account Manager to check that pre-requisites for service establishment have been completed. 4.2 Phase 2: Onramping with PEM Team 4.2.1 What is BT Wholesale Onramp? BT Wholesale Onramp environment is a self-service simulated trading environment which allows you to connect, and test, B2B and Web services collaborations before moving to a live trading environment. It allows you to test your B2B and Web services collaborations effectively and provides a dedicated server for these tests - giving you complete control for various test scenarios. These tests will return predefined simulated responses. You can also test the generation of unsolicited responses (Notifications) from BT Wholesale’s systems and messaging error scenarios. You can use BT Wholesale Onramp to test services exposed on the B2B and Web Services gateway within a test environment before connecting to the live production environment. B2B and Sentry transactions in the Onramp environment are intended to generate simulated responses that will mirror behaviour under live operational conditions. The BT Wholesale Onramp environment has a firewall, message handling hardware and software which are known as the ‘BT Wholesale B2B/Webservices Gateway’. BT Wholesale Onramp will host services which are the same as those provided under the current Live Release together with any forthcoming planned changes to current services which should generally be available in the Onramp environment before the changes are applied to the live system. Issue 1.4 – 5th October 2013 Copyright British Telecommunications plc 2013 Page 7 of 16 B2B & Web Services Overview The Onramp testing can be broken down into the following phases: • First, you need to get your gateway up and ‘talking to’ your back end systems; • Then, your ebXML gateways need to ‘talk to’ the Onramp B2B ebXML gateway; and • Finally you need to round trip your XML from your client system stack/message handler to a test stub and back again. Your BT Account manager will arrange a call with you and the PEM team to introduce the key people and ensure the correct accesses are being requested. The BT Account Manager will confirm that all the prerequisites for establishment have been completed e.g. O/M (Order Management Reference (Unique identifier to all 20C systems)) to CUG (Customer user Group (Unique identifier to all 21C systems)) mapping, back-end set-up on this initial call. Note: the O/M number is your unique identifier in 20CN eCo systems while CUG is a special identifier (internal to BT Wholesale), distinct for each communications provider that is used in the B2B gateway. 4.2.2 What is BT Wholesale Onramp intended for? The Onramp environment is available to BT Wholesale customers so that they can test: • Connectivity to and from BT Wholesale Gateway via the Internet and any proxies and firewalls that may be on the routes involved. • Creation, format conversion (if required), and installation of any certificates that may be used to support the https connections. • Business level messages for passing across the B2B interface; for final testing, the messages should come from and go back to your systems. 4.2.3 What is BT Wholesale Onramp not intended for? Onramp does not: • Provide you with a full end-to-end testing environment • Faithfully replicate the performance in the production environment • Exhaustively test possible data values and error conditions sent to or returned by Openreach • Facilitate load or performance testing • Work for live orders Issue 1.4 – 5th October 2013 Copyright British Telecommunications plc 2013 Page 8 of 16 B2B & Web Services Overview 4.2.4 How long will you use BT Wholesale Onramp for? The testing phase on the Onramp systems depends on the complexity of your management and development processes. Fundamental connectivity testing can take anything from one day to over a month and message testing may take days or months. However, in normal circumstances, the set-up on the BT Wholesale side should take no more than four working days from the provision of details. The main causes of any delays are due to: • Incorrectly-configured digital and Certificate Authority (CA) certificates on web servers • Firewall and proxy setup problems • Development and integration with your backend systems 4.2.5 Set-up at your end Your Account Manager will arrange an introduction conference call. For some Lines-ofBusiness (LoBs) and Customers, the Account Manager will have to arrange the interface conference calls. You will need to provide various details to our PEM Team – these are listed in the onramp user guides available from the BT Wholesale Web site and you can contact PEM team if you have any technical queries. Once we have the set-up details it will typically take a minimum of four working days to set up your account. You can then test the services you have opted for on Onramp. Just make sure you do this within 20 working days or you will need to restart the process.. Note: The customer’s MSH (Message Handler) should handle the asynchronous and synchronous responses and notifications sent from BT Wholesale as appropriate. 4.2.6 Onramp exit criteria These are the set of tests which need to be done on the Onramp systems before moving to the live environment. The Live server set up starts after the Onramp signoff. You simply have to complete the onramp exit criteria report and send this to the PEM team. They will then verify the tests performed and provide the signoff from Onramp. 4.2.7 Software Development Kit (SDK) and Emulator: Our SDK and Emulator tools help you when using the BT Wholesale 21CN Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC)/Wholesale Broadband Managed Connect (WBMC) services and 21CN KBD services. The Wholesale Broadband Connect B2B SDK provides the tools, sample code and documentation that the customers need to quickly and easily integrate with the BT Wholesale B2B gateway. Issue 1.4 – 5th October 2013 Copyright British Telecommunications plc 2013 Page 9 of 16 B2B & Web Services Overview The SDK provides a Java API which allows you to create, validate, send and receive Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) B2B XML. The SDK is only available in Java, you simply need to be able to integrate this into your existing environment. The SDK encapsulates the ebXML process through the use of the Hermes B2B Gateway. It also provides a locally deployable test environment to allow simulated end to end testing before connecting to BT. The Emulator tool can be used to develop and test the integration of the SDK into the customer's processing stack. It performs automatic validation of inbound messages and gives the facility to generate the relevant responses. The Emulator gives you the ability to generate simulated BT responses on demand. Therefore the use of SDK-Emulator should mean faster integration with BT systems. The SDK code is to be used to connect to the Emulator deployed on the Onramp environment, to complete the testing; the code can then be used to place orders against the Live environment. You can download the latest SDK/Emulator and documentation from the link : http://wssdk.wholesale.bt.com/SDKPortal/forms/loginform.html Please liaise with the PEM team to obtain the username/password to download the kit. If you are currently live on the B2B gateway (using your own propriety software), and would like to move to SDK messaging you simply need to go through the Onramp process at least once to prove the SDK access. At the moment SDK only supports 21CN Wholesale Broadband Connect (WBC) services and 21CN KBD services . It does not support any other set of services such as 20CN KBD, PPC, IPstream services. (See section 3 for a list of services) The point of contact for the customers during the SDK testing will be the PEM team (wholesale.pem@bt.com). 4.3 Set-up on live systems The PEM team provides sign-off from Onramp once testing is completed and then sets you up on the live systems. This means that you are now off the test platform and aligned to the live platform. Systems will be now be connected to all back-end production systems which you did not have during the Onramp testing in live platform. Set up takes place at an agreed time on an agreed date which would normally be out of office hours. It normally takes around 30 minutes to one hour at the BT end to complete (both for B2B and Webservices). However a lead time of five working days is required after providing the live set up details to have firewalls implemented and to prepare for live set up. Issue 1.4 – 5th October 2013 Copyright British Telecommunications plc 2013 Page 10 of 16 B2B & Web Services Overview You will need to do a stack-to-stack test (test within your internal systems) to understand if there are any problems etc. It would also help if you also performed some operational readiness testing (for the procedures). You then simply need to perform a low volume live pilot against the live systems. The final phase is to go through trial testing on the live systems within two weeks of connecting to the Live systems. 4.4 Pilot Phase/Trial phase Once you are live on the Production Gateway, you are required to run trial tests as set out below. If you are a new customer you have four weeks to complete these, if you are an existing customer you have two weeks. After the completion of these tests, you need to provide sign-off that all message processing is working. During this trial period, the PEM team will support you if you face any issues while placing orders against the live system. • The tests you need to complete are:Test for all the services to be used on Live (this would have been tested previously against Onramp) and contact the PEM team (wholesale.pem@bt.com) if you have any issues. • Then inform PEM about the completion of tests. • These tests would be similar to those of the Onramp tests that you will have carried out earlier (in terms of various services and XMLs used). If you have any issues after successfully completing testing as set out below from the product establishment process, you can contact broadband.eco.admin@bt.com. Before moving into the In-Life phase, the Exit Criteria needs to be met. This is a simple “exit” email that signals the completion of the product establishment process and ensures smooth handover to “In Life”. You need to contact your Account Manager after completing the test plan within the pilot phase. 4.5 In-life (‘Business as Usual’) This is the “Business as Usual” (BAU) phase. You should now be able to use the services you have opted and tested for in the live environment. The technical support is now provided / coordinated by the E-Helpdesk (Wholesale Customer Helpdesk).
