Topic: Eating and drinking
Task: Using Microsoft PowerPoint, students prepare a presentation to the class promoting
healthy eating.
Students discuss healthy eating habits. Students comment on customs relating to specific food
items such as coffee.
Context: This task is part of a unit of work on Eating and drinking. Students have learnt
vocabulary related to healthy eating and have also learnt to present ideas and information on
what types of food are healthy and why.

Software application used: Microsoft PowerPoint
Description
Students will give an oral presentation in class, with visual support using Microsoft PowerPoint.
The PowerPoint will contain various slides (including a title slide) written in Arabic on what makes
healthy eating. Each information slide must contain at least one image and one full sentence of
Arabic text. Students will use the PowerPoint to support their oral presentation, with spoken text
differing from the written text on the PowerPoint, e.g. the written text may be ‫الكثير من الخضراوات‬
‫والفاكهة‬, with the accompanying spoken text ............... ‫تحتوي هذه أألطعمة على فيتامينات عديدة‬
Teacher and students develop explicit marking criteria for the task.

In this task you will be marked on your ability to:





use a range of vocabulary appropriate to the topic of ُEating and drinking
use a range of grammatical and linguistic structures appropriate to your level of study,
including present tense verbs and appropriate word order
use correct grammar and spelling
speak clearly, using correct pronunciation and intonation
present your information in a clear and organised way, including appropriate images.
