Taking thermal effects into account, the non-local equations of motion and boundary conditions are derived based on a generalized plate theory, using Hamilton’s principle. Numerical analysis are conducted for the free vibration, static bending and buckling of a rectangular functionally graded micro-plate, considering different boundary conditions. Finally, the effect of a variable small scale parameter is investigated by the numerical results for all the combinations of different plate theories with local and nonlocal elasticity theories. The durability and lifetime investigation of such materials are based on strength of materials and conventional fracture mechanics approaches. Recently, the classical fracture mechanics approaches based on Griffith theory and sharp discontinuities have been replaced by diffusive crack models based on gradient type damage models or Ginzburg-Landau type phase field approaches. This research will extend the phase field approaches developed for homogeneous mono-phase materials to a class of anisotropic materials or materials with hierarchical microstructure leading to anisotropic constitutive response. Öğrenci No: 1714740 Adı Soyadı : Mahmoud H.M.NEMER Tez Danışmanı : Doç.Dr.E.İlhan KONUKSEVEN Tez Başlığı : PATH GENERATION FOR ROBOTIC DEBURRING PROCESS Tez Özeti : This thesis deals with the development of a CAD package based on SolidWorks for generating a collision free nominal tool path needed for edge finishing and inspection processes by utilizing a 6-DoF robotic arm. Automation of edge deburring and chamfering consists of two main parts, namely, generating the overall nominal tool path and controlling the material removal procedure while processing the edges. The overall nominal tool path involves analyzing the geometry of the workpiece, determining and designing a collision free tool path, generating the tool path data for the robot and verifying it. One of the most popular PC-based CAD software, SolidWorks, is chosen as the developing platform. A software package programmed in the application programming interface (API) of SolidWorks functions as a processor of the solid models of the workpieces and generates tool path data for the robot. The ABB IRS2000 robot is chosen for executing the generated tool path. The programming language used for developing this software is Visual Basic. This CAD package functions as an interface between the workpiece and the user, and a postprocessor for the tool location for the robot. Ultimately, such path is to be utilized as the nominal tool path by any control strategy present in the literature for a complete automatic edge finishing process. Öğrenci No: 1786706 KONUKSEVEN Adı Soyadı : Atae JAFARI TABRIZI Tez Danışmanı :Doç.Dr.E.İlhan Eş Danışmanı : Y.Doç.Dr.A.Buğra KOKU Tez Başlığı : TRACTION CONTROL OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE Tez Özeti : It is tried to study the interaction between tire and road, when (electric) vehicle is moving in longitudinal direction. The fact that vehicle has independent electric motors at each wheel, simplifies the study. That is, each driven wheel can be investigated separately. Aim is to be able to estimate the road condition in real-time, and obtain the required parameters corresponding to this tire-road interaction. During acceleration/deceleration these parameters will help the controller to achieve the optimum slip-ratio, to maximize the driving ratio and avoid any non-desired slip, in order not to lose maneuverability and controllability. In order to achieve this, which is the final aim, other observers and filters are required to estimate required states (e.g., velocity of the vehicle). Also there may be other media (e.g., visual information) used in vehicle velocity estimation, and foreseeing the changes in road condition. Öğrenci No: 2052314 Adı Soyadı : Tunay TÜRK Tez Danışmanı : Prof.Dr.Metin AKKÖK Eş Danışmanı : Y.Doç.Dr.Volkan ESAT Tez Başlığı : DESIGN OF MAN-PORTABLE LAUNCHER WITH THE USE OF ANTHROPOMORPHIC TEST DEVICE Tez Özeti : This thesis work aims to design and develop a Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) Launcher in order not to harm the user-infantry. The success of a MANPADS system is seem to be only the aiming, hitting and destroying the enemy targets and threats, however, it also has a hidden purpose that not to harm the user. Therefore, during the thesis work, in order to make a successful design in that manner, it is aimed to use a human-like test dummy for ergonomics and human safety design. To begin with, the man-portable missile systems may be both heavy and harmful for human (soldier) during the process of firing. To minimize or if possible get rid of all the risks that may be occur to the infantry, an Anthopomorphic Test Device (ATD) is aimed to be used. With the use of an ATD, the following facts will be considered; reaction force effects during the launching of the missile, gripping and firing ergonomy, temperature effects, sound/shockwave effects etc. Hence, some tests will be performed and the results of those tests will be used to design a MANPADS harmless to its user. In conclusion, at the end of this thesis work, it is aimed to determine the input design requirements of the launcher in order to design a successful launcher that will both provide its major aim (launch the missile and hit the target), and also the other (hidden) purpose which is not to harm the infantry.
