University of Ontario Institute of Technology Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Graduate Seminar Courses ENGR 5003G: Seminar Participation in a program of seminars by internal and external speakers on current research topics. All MASc students will be required to give a seminar on their thesis research during the second year of their program. ENGR 6003G: Seminar Participation in a program of seminars by internal and external speakers on current research topics. All PhD students are required to give two seminars on their dissertation research, typically within the second and final years of their program. Course Organization Graduate seminars will be organized each term by a graduate seminar coordinator. Attendance will be recorded by the coordinator, using the enclosed sign-in sheet. In order to obtain a passing grade for this course, students must attend a series of these seminars by internal and external speakers. In addition to the semester when they register for this course, students are also encouraged to attend the seminars throughout their entire program of study. They will be given credit for attendance on the sign-up sheet, including terms when not registered for the course. Course Evaluation The course evaluation is pass/fail. Learning Outcomes 1) Present a research seminar on a significant topic, to an audience of peers and experts. 2) Examine and reflect on contemporary issues and professional and ethical responsibilities which impact both engineering and society as whole, and their specific area of interest. 3) Appreciate the need, and gain knowledge and skills, to further an education through learning about other fields of research. 4) Receive and respond to questions, critique and other feedback from peers and experts.
