).

There are 3 class of obesity which is class 1, class 2 and class 3.As you can see, class 1 obesity is in between 30.0 –

34.9, class 2 is in between 35.0-39.9 and class 3 is higher than 40.0.

There are 3 types of obesity which is severe obesity, morbid obesity and super obesity.

Based on Wikipedia, severe obesity means that any BMI ≥

35 or 40. While, morbid obesity is a BMI ≥35 or 40-44.9 or

49.9. But for super obesity is a BMI ≥45 or 50.

What are the causes of obesity?

Maybe some of you do not realize that obesity has many causes and not only come from the habits of overeat. Obesity can tend to run in families.

In a study of adults who were adopted as children, researchers found that participating adult weights were closer to their biological parents' weights than their adoptive parents'. In fact, if your biological mother is heavy as an adult, there is approximately a 75% chance that you will be heavy. If your biological mother is thin, there is also a 75% chance that you will be thin.

Psychological factors also influence eating habits and obesity.

Many people eat in response to negative emotions such as boredom, sadness, or anger. People who have difficulty with weight management may be facing more emotional and psychological issues. Environmental factor, age and pregnancy also can lead to the obesity. Environmental factors include lifestyle behaviors such as what a person eats and how active he or she is. Women tend to weigh an average of 4-6 pounds more after a pregnancy than they did before pregnancy.

People tend to lose muscle and gain fat as they age. Their metabolism also slows somewhat. Both of these lower their calorie requirements .

Transition to conclusion

Obesity increases the risk of many physical and mental conditions.

The most common consequences of obesity are cardiovascular diseases (mainly heart disease and stroke), which were the leading cause of death in 2008, diabetes, musculoskeletal disorders (especially osteoarthritis - a highly disabling degenerative disease of the joints) and some cancers

(endometrial, breast, and colon). Obesity, especially morbid and super obesity, has been linked to raised incidence of premature death as well as several serious medical conditions, including type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, heart disease, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, and stroke

.

Childhood obesity is associated with a higher chance of obesity, premature death and disability in adulthood.

But in addition to increased future risks, obese children experience breathing difficulties, increased risk of fractures, hypertension, early markers of cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance and psychological effects

So what can you do if you're obese? How can you begin to regain control over your weight and shape?
