Goodna Update for Thursday 20th January 2011
COMPASSION is what comes to mind as I reflect on the day . To me COMPASSION is mercy
and sympathy intertwined .
This is what I witnessed more on an individual bases as more than before individuals were
coming and sitting with us and sharing their genuine needs , and amazingly we were able to
meet most needs before the day ended .
TODAY
Today we were spoilt as Michael from the Redbank Plains RSL sub branch continued to cook
all day over 150 Hungry Jack Beef Burgers , almost 600 sausages and believe it or not tender
steak supplied by a couple from a farm in Killarney who delivered 300kg of meat this
morning . We were able to share this with other cooking in the area . To top it all off B105
delivered 20 Dominos Pizzas at peak lunch time . So over a thousand "meals" supplied . A a
coffee van turn up serving most of the day .
We found more people who have been flooded coming and wanting to talk and seeking
direction and various needs .One man I was speaking with had two houses the first he
owned in Goodna and the one he lived in in Chelmer , both went under .
A group drove all the way from Sydney with a heap of cleaning products to give and willing
bodies to go and help clean .
