• We can’t leave out Ponce de León
• He came with Columbus on his 2nd. Voyage
and stayed. He was a leader in Spanish
military. Led expeditions across the islands
in the Caribbean hunting for gold, silver,
pearls, and the rumored fountain of youth.
Really all he ended up doing was enslaving
and slaughtering thousands of the native
people. He was extremely good at it and
often promoted for it. He landed twice in
Florida looking for riches and fountain but
was eventually killed by a poison arrow
from a native. Not the happy story you
thought it was, was it?
