AUK American University in Kosovo 2009-10
Departments of Technical and Professional Communications, Art & Design,
University Program, Media and Graphic Communications
RIT: Designed new course and program curricula for the department. Developed
new courses; selected software; evaluated experiential credit; offered
independent coursework; mentored graduate students. Used original curriculum
and instructional materials for each course.
Students included adult and traditional, provisionally accepted, hearing impaired,
learning disabled, dislocated professionals, peer faculty and staff, international
and ESL.
Course load varied from one to five sections per quarter, including online and
graduate.
RIT Contributions:
Launched computer graphics curriculum by 1992. Taught the first course at RIT
with primary content focus on digital graphic design.
In 2007-8, reviewed department curricula for online feasibility, and gave 140page recommendation for complete renovation of programs and courses, with
course objectives and measurable outcomes. Developed these courses.
Received Heavy Hitter Top 50 status for Online Learning in three courses in
2008. Wrote training and policy manuals for College of Continuing Education
1986, 1997-1999. Nominated for Outstanding Teacher award. Wrote
recommendations for two winning Outstanding Student Awards. Participated in
wiki pilot program with Online Learning RIT. Received commendation for
commitment to equal access and sensitivity to students with disabilities, 2006.
AUK: Taught ESL students of Kosovar, Albanian, Roma, Serb, and Macedonian
descent. Gathered student work for annual exhibit; proctored exams. Participated
in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and training new faculty. Served on policy
committees; assisted in screening for student co-ops; scheduled unit courses;
spoke at student informational sessions. Course load averaged five sections per
quarter.
AUK Contributions: Worked with USAID staff and Booz-Allen-Hamilton
consultant to provide brochure designs for small businesses, and conference
posters promoting tourism in Kosovo; met with Cultural Heritage without
Borders architects to explore involving students in publication design; mentored

students in AUK mascot design and Imagine AUK / CERN Energy Center poster
design; helped coordinate award-winning Ogilvy International guest speaker.
Proposed policy and forms for faculty evaluation; documented academic unit
activity.
Launched a student media club; designed permanent hall display cases; invited
Prishtina High School students to participate in AUK classroom; coordinated
yearbook 2009.
