2. Using the Snipping Tool – Learning Assignment: For a tutorial on how to
use the Snipping Tool, watch the Using the Snipping Tool video on the CMP
101 Resources web site (Help & FAQ >> Class Procedures). Then do the
following to create a screen snip of your work:
a. Open File Explorer and open the Newsletter Items folder you created
in step 1. Be sure to expand the folders in the navigation pane so all
folders are visible. Set the view layout is to Details Adjust column
widths and/or windows width/height as needed.
b. Compare your screen to the Visuals Page on CMP 101 Resources
Web site, then minimize the Visuals page to return to your File
Explorer window. Use the Snipping tool to create a full-screen snip.
Save the snip as B-Windows1.jpg on your USB drive (remember to
change the file type as needed).

a. Open File Explorer and open the Nearwater High folder. Expand folders in the
navigation pane. Set the view layout to Details and make sure all folders/files
created in this exercise are visible on the screen (see Visuals Page on CMP
101 Resources Web site).

b. Format all text on works cited page in black font color, Times New Roman, 12pt, not
bold, double-spaced; “Works Cited” centered horizontally and entries have a ½”
hanging indent.
c. Set the before and after paragraph spacing for the entire document, including Works
Cited page, to zero.

Exam Prep. Review exam prep materials. Review how to locate a file when

 This 90-minute test will cover: 1) Computer Concepts, 2) Internet and e-mail
tutorials, handouts, and presentations3) Windows 8.1 (units A and B and
supplement), 4) Intro to Office 2013 (unit C), and 5) MS Word 2013 (Units DF). Test will consist of multiple choice, matching, and/or true/false questions.
In addition you will be asked to perform certain tasks using SAM, Internet
Explorer, Windows, and Word. You will not be allowed to use books or other
resources during the exam. BE PREPARED! You will not have time to
“figure out” every task or concept.

Unit I: Excel 2013 – Graded Assignment (textbook). Visual Workshop, Excel 252 (IVolunteer Participation.xlsx). As soon as you open the file, change the color scheme to
Office 2007-2010. Hint: study each chart and identify the cells in the worksheet that are
depicted in the chart. Those are the cells you will need to select before using the Insert Chart
command. For example, in the first chart, the labels for all the cities “Seattle”, “Los Angeles”,
etc… appear in the chart and the legend indicates the values for the years 2014 through 2016
are also in the chart. However, the totals do not appear in the chart. This corresponds to cells
A5:D10; select those cells, insert a 2-D bar chart, and format to match the figure in the
textbook (remember to change the color scheme as described above).
NOTE: Set the print scaling to fit to one page; the borders should all be the same thickness.

portions covered in class). You will be asked to perform skills in SAM as
well as use MS Excel to create, edit, format, save, and print spreadsheets
and MS Access to create databases, enter data, create queries and
reports, and sort and filter data.
