What are we learning today?
We are learning to
use spreadsheet models to answer what if…? questions
What I’m looking for
1
using spreadsheet features to find the answers rather than
working them out ourselves
This is because
spreadsheet models can be used to analyse data in
complicated ways so that we can find the answers to
questions

What is a model?
• (In ICT terms!)
• Tool that enables you to put different data
into a system and look at the outcomes it
produces
• Tool you can use to ask ‘what if…’
questions by changing variable or formulae

In this unit you will learn:
• To use a spreadsheet to generate models
• To ask questions of the models in order to analyse
and present data
• To use techniques to generate more effective
models
• To understand the relationship between input and
output values in a model
• To discuss other types of modelling that can be
used to simulate different events
