Animal Kingdom Phylum Chart Assignment Using a sheet of larger paper you are to set up a table to be able to study and compare the Phylum’s we will study in the invertebrates unit. You will use Chap 26-29 and what is taught in class to fill in the table as we go through learning about the phyla. You may have some class time but it is your task to keep up with filling it in. It will be checked along the way and is due once the Invertebrates unit is done. You will need to have the following headings going across the top of the page in order: Level of classification, common example, feeding, respiration, internal transport, excretion, response, movement, reproduction and symmetry. Down the page are the all the phylum and class names we cover in this unit under the level of classification column. See example below for set up. Each Phylum and Class has a separate row! Your rows will be for: title row and 25 rows for = 26 rows in total Phylum Porifera. Phylum Cnidaria and Class Hydrozoa, Class Schphozoa, Class Anthozoa Phylum Platyhelminthes and Class Turbellaria, Class Trematoda and Class Cestoda Phylum Nematoda Phylum Annelida and Class Polychaeta, Class Oligiochaeta, and Class Hirundinea Phylum Mollusa and Class Bivalvia, Class Gastropoda, Class Cephalopoda Phylum Arthropoda and Subphylum Chelicerata, Subphylum Crustacea, Subphylum Uniramia and Class Insecta Phylum Echinodermata Phylum Chordata Level of Classification Example Feeding Respiration Internal transport Excretion Response Movement Reproduction Symmetry Phylum Porifera Phylum Cnidarian Class Hydrozoa Sponges >>> >>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> >>>> Not all of these examples have details on each of the heading but will help with your overall picture of how these fit together. For example if it states that phylum or class has no internal transport system you write NONE in the space given. IF the class within a phylum has the same structure or process you write SAME AS PHYLUM. For the Classes you write in what is a specific characteristic or process for that class in particular. As each day’s content is completed it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to add the information to your table. You may be given some class time to work on this. If you keep up with it as you learn that phylum it will not be a big task. In the end you will have a great comparison chart to study and learn from!
