Does The Media Change How People Feel About The Natural Environment? By Elizabeth Smith I am doing a project to show if four common media types (books, websites, magazines, and movies) affect, (if it DOES affect) how people feel about the natural environment. I did an experiment, and a survey. There are 3 possible results- it affects positively, it doesn’t affect it at all, or it affects negatively. My email address is elizabeths5@waterlooschools.net, but you can only email me if you have a waterloo schools email. My project is answering the question, “Does the media change how people feel about the natural environment?” To answer that question, I assembled a list of 4 common media types, (books, movies, magazines, and websites) did a survey, and an experiment. Project Description Welcome To My Project! (Hence the welcome sign in the picture) For my experiment, I asked 3 people to look at 1 book/magazine, watch 1 movie, and look at 1 website. I then asked how the media examples they chose made them feel about protecting the environment. people media examples What My Experiment Is All About I did an experiment, and this slide describes what I did and how I went about doing it. How does the media change how people feel about the natural environment if they don’t feel anything for the natural environment already? How does the media change how you feel about the natural environment? What type of media influences people the most? Poll/Survey Questions This shows the questions in the poll/survey I conducted. From this assignment, I learned that the media does affect how people feel about the environment. I did a poll or survey, whichever you prefer, and I think the results showed that the media really does affect people, but some, they are a bit wary of what they hear. Poll/ Survey Reflection I did a reflection, because I think it is important to reflect on what you learned during a project or something like that. My pictures represent reflecting. I think my experiment taught my that there are a lot of different media types that affect a lot of people in a lot of way. Also, I learned that how you present yourself is important. In response to my question, (see first slide) the answer would have to be yes. Experiment Reflection I wanted to reflect on my experiment, because I think that played a big part in helping me to understand he answer to my question Next to my display is a suggestion box. If you have anything that you really liked, or you think I could work on something for future projects, write it down on the note cards next to the table, drop it in the box, and I will read all the papers in there when the night is over! It is wrapped in the comics from the Sunday paper to represent recycling. Suggestion Box! The suggestions I get will help to make my future projects better!
