Mr. Wormsley’s 5th Grade Summer Reading and School Supplies List In 5th grade, the focus of reading is changing from mostly fiction (entertainment) books to a combination of both fiction and non-fiction (information) books. Summer reading should add to a student’s ability to interpret information, since that is what school and life are all about. Therefore, of the two books that are required reading, one is non-fiction. Use the attached rubrics for your book reports. The correct rubric must be attached to the back of each report when you hand them in on the 1st day of school.
