1. Write a 3 page character analysis about one of the following characters in Fahrenheit
451: Guy Montag, Captain Beattie, Clarisse, or Mildred.
2. Write a 3 page essay that provides supporting evidence and a sound argument for a major
theme found in Fahrenheit 451. Theme is defined as a main idea or an underlying
meaning of a literary work that may be stated directly or indirectly. Major and minor
themes are two types of themes that appear in literary works. A major theme is an idea
that a writer repeats in his work, making it a significant idea throughout the novel.
How to format an MLA header
The MLA format requires that your last name followed by the page number be visible in the
upper right corner of each page. This is how to format such a header in Microsoft Word:
Click on “insert”
Click on “page number”
Choose “top of the page”
Click on “plain” number 3, a single number in the top right hand corner
Add your last name followed by a space before the number (no comma between your last
name and the page number)
