In the first paragraph the author is saying that she wants everyone to live the way she does in america
with clean water, food, and shelter. The author says that he or she wishes Nicaraguan families can live
the same life as american familes, and be provided with the same living standards.
In the second paragraph the author is saying that maybe not everyone can live in the comfort like
americans do, because if everyone is living our lifestyle than the air pollution, global warming, destruction
of forests, and harm to wildlife will be affected. The author thinks that scientists won't find an alternative
energy source, and what will need to happen is america needs to cut down on their consumption.
The first paragraph explains the author's sympathy toward under developed countries and the hopes the
author has that life for these people will get better.
The author introduces his feelings in the first sentence and goes on to tell the personal story that sparked
the feelings and the subject of the paragraph.
The second paragraph contrasts the first one in that the author describes why it might be good that other
countries aren't as developed and then goes on to question the future of our energy sources.
The author begins this paragraph with a questionable theory to give a new perspective on society's views
on the "good life" and then goes on to explain the dangers of all countries having the luxuries that we do.

then discusses what would happen to the world if that really happened.

Although it would only be fair that the second and third world countires would attain the same standards
of living, it would also be dangerous to the world.
Second and third-world countries are much more underdeveloped than the U.S. They live very simple
compared to the U.S. which reduces pollution, global warming etc.
One day there may be a discovery of alternative energy sources to undo the damage we have done to
the Earth. The American's standard of living may be the wrong way to go because of so much damage
they are doing to the Earth.

Most Nicaraguans live in a one room home made from tin and cinder blocks, while Americans have things
like hot water, nutricious foods, numerous bedrooms, cars, sidewalks, driveways, pools, and hot tubs.
If second and third world countries had the same standard of living as American's, it would pose a greater
risk for the world than we already do.
The first paragraph talks about how low the standard of living is in countries such as Nicaragua.
Nicaraguans do not have electricity, plumbing, enough food, or even large enough homes for the whole
family.
The second paragraph talks about how achieving higher standards of living also result to major damage
to the planet. To live like Americans the other countries would also have to pollute the air, destroy forests,
and contribute to global warming so perhaps the solution is for Americans to cut back on the damage that
they are doing to the environment now.

The author hopes that Nicaraguans, who live in depression and despair, can one day enjoy the luxuries we as
Americans share today. The paragraphs discusses that the citizens of Nicaragua live in less than perfect conditions,
and leads into the next paragraph questioning why our lives in America are considered “model”
If the style of living was the same everywhere else as it was here, then our planets resources and the planet itself
would die much faster. The paragraph questions why American style of living may not be the way to go.
