Final Exam Study Guide
2nd Semester
English II
Rationale – The final exam will be a culmination of the work we have done during second semester.
This means that there will not be questions from first semester. The questions will come from previous
unit tests and quizzes. You should study these resources and make sure that you know all the
information, even if you did not know it the first time you took the test. Since we have not taken a unit
test over The Kite Runner, a large proportion, about 30%, of the final will be over this novel. For The Kite
Runner, study the quizzes and the power point chart. You will need to know themes, literary terms, and
vocabulary; all of the vocabulary from the final will be from The Kite Runner.
Studying – During class periods the week of 5/14-5/18 there will be opportunities to study alone or in
small groups. You are also welcome to come during academic advisement on 5/17. Previous unit tests
may be used to make study guides but may not be removed from the room.
Reading Day – Reading Day is on Monday, 5/21. This will be another opportunity to study previous
tests. The short answer question(s) for the final will also be posted in the room only. These will be a
few new questions that you have not seen before.
Format
100 (approximately) multiple choice and matching questions – 1 point each.
30 (approximately) short answer – 1 word, sentence, phrase, or explanation – 1 point each.
1-2 short new short answer questions – 7-10 sentences – 4 points each.
130-150 (approximately) total points – 20% of semester grade
