Grading your Comp Book
Comp books are checked every two weeks. It is the week that the student takes the unit and
lesson test. Upon arrival to class students must have ALL highlighting and ALL summaries
must be completed. Class time is not given for this, especially on the day of the test.
Students are graded the following way:



Agendas must be written the EXACT same way that they are written on the board
including the date written is Spanish.
Calentamientos are pink you must have all of your calentamiento written out and answers
underlined, if applicable. Calentamientos must have translation as well.
Students must highlight the word “Agenda” yellow, and “Calentamiento” where they do
the activity pink.
Apuntes Gramaticales (Grammar Notes)
This section is green. Students must have proper heading for example, “Subject
Pronouns + Ser” is an example of a heading. This changes with every set of grammar
notes taken. For credit, students must have notes written in Cornell form, about two
fingers from the left. This is where key points are written. At the end of notes, students
must have a summary which always answers the essential question (EQ). The summary
shall be 2-3 sentences. On the margin students have the word summary written and
highlighted in green. Failure to follow proper format or missing any part of the notes will
result in a zero!
Apuntes Culturales (Cultural Notes)
This section is orange. The title is always written in orange from the book. The
essential question (EQ) is italicized in the book. Next, students copy the short paragraph
in cornell. “Compara Tu Mundo” goes on the left margin and is highlighted in orange.
Students copy the question and answer it. Last, students write the word summary on the
left and answer the essential question in their summary. Click here for a layout example

Students in Level 2 cultural notes are entirely in Spanish. Therefore, students use
Google to translate at home and copy only the English. However, the same format is
followed for consistency.
Vocabulary
This section is blue. Students copy vocabulary the Monday following the unit and
lesson test. Students are only given 10 minutes in class. It is their responsibility to finish
it when they have time in class, homeroom, or at home. Students shall copy with heading
and subheading too and finally number through. These headings shall be highlighted blue
and numbered through. It is expected that the students will study vocabulary whenever
they finish their work or when no formal homework is assigned.
