What we are learning:
Reading/Language Arts: Character traits,
temporal words, past tense irregular verbs,
compound words, proper nouns, text features
and a review of all grammar skills thus far
Reminders and events:
*October 15 PTA 6:00 – 2ND GRADE SHOW!!!
Math: Properties of Addition and mental
math strategies to add to 100
*Box Tops: Please send in your Box Tops. I am
Writing: Narrative

Social Studies/Science: matter and energy

Homework
Monday – Thursday:
Weekly Math/ELA “column” sheet
AIMS – please complete the whole sheet by Friday.
You can time them for 5 minutes a night and let
them get as far as they can each night until the
finish the sheet.
Fluency – time for 1 minute each night and mark
where they are able to read to. Answer
comprehension questions on the back.
Spelling Journal – 1 activity a night – YOU CAN MIX
UP ACTIVITIES IF YOU WANT! They can also do
one Spelling
City activity to take the place of one

activity per week.

Please be sure to look through your child’s
papers EACH NIGHT. Please go over the
items they missed and review their work
they have done from the previous week.
The PTA volunteer sign-up sheet has been
sent home. Please send it back if you would
like to help with our show!
Please continue to work with your child on
becoming responsible and independent this
year. It is important to have these skills
in place as they progress to third grade.

Wed. and Thurs. afternoons from 2:30-3:15 for
students and their parents. Students can take
AR Quizzes, check out books, or just read a book
or a magazine. Parents are encouraged to step
away from children while they take AR Quizzes.
