Valence electrons
 Valence electrons are the electrons in the last
shell or energy level of an atom.
 How to find them:

1. Look at the last shell/orbital in the electron
2. Look at the column in the periodic table


How to talk/write them
 Valence electrons are the ONLY electrons that an
atom can use to share (create bonds)
 Creating molecules and chemical reactions is VERY
dependent on the number of valence electrons

