Student Learning Outcomes Training and Resource Sheet January 2016 The Division of Student Affairs has adopted “communication” as the topic for a Division-wide student learning outcome for student employees. Each department may develop their own specific outcome and craft appropriate language to fit their needs. ABCD’s of Writing Learning Outcomes Audience/Who: Who is expected to benefit from the learning outcome. Be as specific as possible. Behavior/What: The skill/knowledge/ability that the audience is expected to learn. Condition/How: The program, service, and/or intervention that was intended to impart this knowledge. Degree/How Much: How much will be accomplished, how well the behavior needs to be performed, and to what level? Example: Students employed in the Wellness Center will demonstrate written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and members at an advanced level.
