Each competency is expected to be turned in on the assessment due date. If the student fails to meet that deadline, the competency will be deducted by no more than 10 percentage points. A student who continuously fails to meet mastery on the competencies will find it difficult to achieve success in the course. Correcting Competencies Students are given unlimited opportunities within the grading period of the given semester to correct their competencies in order to achieve mastery of the particular standard. Below describes how corrections can be made: TRADITIONAL ASSESSMENTS Once a student has taken the initial traditional assessment they may attempt to correct the assessment to achieve mastery. Each attempt at correction offers the student a chance to receive ½ the available credit as long as the newly selected answer is correct and a correction rationale for the answer is provided. Students will only be expected to correct the questions that were answered incorrectly and may use textbooks, notes, and reviews to answer the questions at the teacher’s discretion. Students may not seek help from other students. Correction attempts must be completed in the presence of the classroom teacher. PROJECTS Once a student has submitted the final version of their project they will have unlimited opportunities to revise and redo the project until mastery is achieved. Each time a revised project is submitted it must be in “final draft” form and will be regarded using the project rubric.
