Review of the Anatomical Terms
Muscle terms to know…
• Flex/flexion- when you decrease the angle
between 2 bones
• Extend/extension- when you increase the angle
between 2 bones
• Adduct/adduciton- when the body part is moving
toward the midline (ADDING to the body)
• Abduct/abduction- when the body part is moving
away from the midline (ABDUCTION to take away
from the body)
You will be quizzed…
• Friday Math 4th on these 10 muscles (50 pts
total to fill in table & do the identifications)
• The quiz looks like this PLUS the practicum:
What if you’re leaving early on Friday…
• If you miss the unit 1 muscle quiz you will take
the unit 1 quiz the same day as the unit 2 quiz
(NEXT WEDNESDAY 5/9)
• If you miss next Wednesday as well, you will
take the units 1 and 2 quizzes when you take
the unit 3/4 quiz on WEDNESDAY 5/16

• To view the internal oblique muscle cut through the linea alba
and reflect the external muscle back
• To view the transverse abdominus cut through the internal
oblique and reflect it back
*** if you don’t see the transverse abdominus it may be stuck to the back
of the reflected internal oblique
