Jamie Pata English 9 3rd Dear Reader, The theme of this project is to follow the law: Innocent until proven guilty. In other words, do not judge a book by its cover. In the book, To Kill A Mockingbird, for example, a respectable man, Tom Robinson, is accused for rape, and received a guilty verdict due to the fact that Tom was African American. He was not proven guilty. In fact, the man’s lawyer, Atticus Finch, presented an excellent case, and if the accused was a white citizen, he probably would have been a free man. I chose this theme because I believe strongly in this law, and others should too. $25 Tom Robinson is wanted for raping and brutally beating Miss Mayella Ewell. Last seen fleeing from the Ewell residence. Wanted $25 If this man is found, bring him to the Maycomb County sheriff’s office. There will be a reward given to the person to deliver Mr. Robinson of $25. Arthur “Boo” Radley is a main character in Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird. Though Arthur stayed very isolated at his house due to the cruelness of his father, he played an important role in the classic book’s story line. He dominated much of Jem’s and Scout’s imaginations. Jem and Scout were two other very important roles in the book. Arthur Radley maintained a quiet, unseen and even creepy personality that made people of Maycomb, Alabama frightened of him. Arthur is seen by Jem and Scout for the first and last time at the end of the book in an action-filled scene. Jem, Scout, and their family would never forget Arthur’s favor during this hectic scene. Dear Diary, Today I witnessed a heart wrenching case about a convicted negro, Tom Robinson, who was accused of raping Miss Mayella Ewell. My daddy defended Tom, and the nearby negro community was thankful for this. However, it was all for not. Daddy didn’t win the case because Miss Mayella is a white lying brat that wouldn’t fess up to the fact that her daddy, Mr. Bob Ewell was the one who beat her. People like that make me sick, but what’s done is done, and I will be back to write more tomorrow. Love you Tom Logout My favorite part about this class was reading To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I enjoyed reading it to use up class time. I liked the story and would recommend it to anyone. My least favorite part about this class was doing all the grammar worksheets. I know they were necessary but I would have done fine without so many. However, I think that my strongest point in this class was the grammar, because I got so many good grades on grammar worksheets. My weakest point in this class was probably presenting projects. I think there were several positive impacts on me in this class. I liked my teacher and learned lots of things.
