The focus is on understanding the basic premises of physical growth and development, motor, psychosocial, psychosexual, and cognitive development, and wellness promotion. It provides the students with a sound theoretical base and processes, by which one comes to know, think and respond to others. It additionally fosters an appreciation of the need for individualized health care. In addition it will help the students to analyze conditions that influence human growth. Various aspects of personal relationships will be examined including conflict prevention and management techniques. General Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course the student will be able to: 1. Discuss several behavioral and social cognitive theories including Freud, Piaget, Erikson. 2. Describe the major stages of human growth and development.
