World History AP - Movie Project
Unit IV and V cover the periods from 1750- the present. There are tons of great movies that cover this period in history.
Many of them are very historically accurate and tell the stories in an interesting and compelling way. Your assignment is
to watch one movie from each part of the world. Most of these movies are free on youtube, or available on Netflix and at
the public library. After watching each movie you will write a one page review of the movie. You should watch at least
one that is in another language.
•
In your review you need to include what themes of AP world history the movie deals with and give examples
from the movie for each one.
•
Discuss the plot and characters in the film in terms of not only how effective they are but also how well they
reflect the time period.
•
You will also research other reviews of the movie to see if the movie is historically accurate or if the filmmakers
took any liberties for the sake of storytelling.
•
Because the setting and costuming are crucial to the atmosphere and realism of a historical movie, spend some
time in your review discussing each of these.
•
Rate the reviews from 1 to 10 on the basis of how well the review covered the historical elements of the movie,
rather than simply critiquing the movie with no reference to the time period.
