Part 1: Rewrite the Articles so that a 3rd grader could understand them: (hint: simplify to a very basic level but still
in complete sentences)
Part 2: Article IV (4) Relations Among the States
Section 1 describes that states must respect other states laws. Marriage and crime laws are an example of this.
1. Describe what would happen if states didn’t have to follow either marriage or crime laws from other states.
2. What would be some problems?
3. Could this ever be a positive thing?
Section 3 describes that Congress can admit new states into the Union, but a single state cannot create a new state
within it’s boundaries. For example the state of New York can not make New York City a separate state
4. Describe what could happen if states COULD create new states within the boundaries of states already created.

7. Draw a diagram showing the process of amending the Constitution. Be sure to include who, what, where, and how
many.
8. Are amendments ALWAYS created to better our nation? Now, look ahead to pages 204-215 (the amendments)
Then, answer, the questions again. Is your answer the same or different than it was before you looked at het
amendments?
