Guides



Notification services allow you to receive
email notification of new books or articles in
your area of study.

CINAHL
Click on “Personal Account (for
Searches” link on upper blue bar
 Click on “Create a new Personal
Account” and register
 Click on “Main Search Page” link
 Perform a search in CINAHL
 Click on the “Save Search/Alert” link
underneath the Search History.

CINAHL
Name your search and select the
Type as AutoAlert (SDI)
 Pick Fields and Scheduling options
you want
 For EndNote Users:
 (Output Type – keep the default
of “Ascii” (?)
 Result Format - Reprint/Medlars


Click on Save
 Can revise alerts by clicking on the
“Saved Searches/Alerts” link on
upper blue bar

PubMed: My NCBI
Setting up an account:
 Click on the My NCBI link located on
the left blue bar in PubMed
 Register
 Email confirmation with link
 Set-up account
PubMed: My NCBI

Searches
Conduct a search
 Click on “Save Search” to the right of the
“Go” button
 Answer the question “Would you like to
receive e-mail updates of new search
results?” by choosing Yes
 For EndNote Users: Choose the format
of MEDLINE and Text
 Click the OK button


Collections
 “Send to” and choose “Clipboard”
 Click on the “Clipboard” tab
 Click on “Send to” and select “My
NCBI Collections”
How to save Alerts/Notifications
for EndNote
Save emails as a text file (.txt)
 When you set-up your
alert/notification account, choose a
format that is EndNote friendly such
as text or ascii (varies per database
interface – read the help screens).

