CA Orchestra Class Classroom Requirements 1. 2. 3. 4. Have your own instrument ready for this class. Practice at home on your instrument. Audition for honors orchestra (US only). Be able to participate in all required performance and activities. Classroom Rules 1. No food, drink and gum in the classroom 2. Sit on your chair with your instrument and music in two minutes after the scheduled time. 3. Follow the directions. 4. Be polite, courteous and respectful. 5. No talking. 6. Do not touch the instrument which is not belong to you. 7. During the class, ask the permission before leaving your chair. 8. Ask the permission before using the equipment in the room. 9. No running and jumping in this classroom. Grade You will receive the final grade at the end of each trimester: Classroom average (overall) 40% Ensemble playing skills (including the theory) 30% Test or Quiz 30% The primary consideration for a classroom average score will receive is learning attitude and behavior and attendance in daily classroom. The primary consideration for an ensemble playing score will receive is daily evaluation (during the class) of rhythm, intonation, tempo and music terms and theories. The test or quiz is the audition and instrument playing test. You will receive the final grade at the end of the school year: 1st Trimester: 25% 2nd Trimester: 25% 3rd Trimester: 25% Final Exam: 25% 2 concerts; commencement (US only) and their dress rehearsals Extra Credits You may use your extra credit for make up the absent or increase your final grade. It is required of each student going for extra credit to do the following: 1. No unexcused absence. 2. Receive the average grade at least 87 for each trimester. Extra credits: 1. Summer Music (7 days) Camp: 5 (Max. 10) 2. All-State solo and Ensemble o Superiors: Solo 20 Ensemble 15 o Excellent: Solo 15 Ensemble 10 o Good: Solo 10 Ensemble 5 3. All-State Orchestra: o Try out only 10 o Try out and win 20 4. Participating in private lessons: 1 per 1/2 hour (max.20) 5. Sign up 5 days orchestras: 20 per each trimester (US only) 6. Sign up music club and participate the performance: Chamber group Solo 10 20 Outstanding Orchestra Student You must fill up the form of the point system and return it to teacher. The student who received highest points will be an Outstanding Member in the orchestra. Each year we will have two outstanding members one in MS and one in US orchestra. The activity is given a number of points in the form and each activity you have fulfilled, write the number of points in the blank. Some activities require a parent or teacher signature.
