Agenda • Welcome. – Nominate for Homecoming Queen and King • KOSSA Basics • Practice Multiple Choice Questions What is the KOSSA? • Kentucky Occupational Skills Standards Assessment. – A test that measures your knowledge in marketing, business, employability, and business math skills. Why Am I Here? • To participate in this assessment a student must have completed three courses in the marketing program area. – Ie: Computer Applications, Principles of Marketing, Business Management, Sports Marketing, Fashion Marketing, Business Principles, Yearbook, Co-op, Pathways to Careers, Word Processing, and even some old graphic classes are counted towards your 3 classes. Is This Required? • Yes, the state keeps tabs on each student through TEDS (a data system). If you miss the test, you will be required to attend a make-up session of the test with Ms. Fox. Alright, so when is this test? • Friday, February 8th and Monday February 11th. – Friday = Multiple Choice Test (1st and 2nd period) – Monday = Scenario Test (1st and 2nd period) You will be granted additional time if needed. So, what is on this test? FRIDAY’S TEST • The test is 100 questions, that is composed of: – 25 academic – 25 employability skills (resumes, job interviews, chain of command, etc) – 50 occupation skills (specific to marketing) The minimum passing score on the multiple choice part of the assessment is a 70%. So, what is on this test? MONDAY’S TEST • You will be given 2 scenario options. You will choose 1 of the 2 scenarios and write a complete and detailed essay for the scenario. You will need to make a “3” or “4” score on the scenario in order to pass this part of the assessment. Goal for Today: • Read over a few sample multiple choice questions and answer the questions as a class. • Complete the remaining questions on your own. • Incentive: Bring the completed test back to me ON TUESDAY.
