To all Tee Ball Players, Parents, Coaches and Volunteers,
With registration nearly completed, I felt that it was a good time to take care of some housekeeping
items and a general description of how the season will unfold. I appreciate that for some of you this is
your first experience with Centennial Little League so I will try to cover everything.
Once registration is complete we will begin the process of creating teams. This starts with identifying
parents that are available to coach a team. Centennial offers multiple opportunities to attend free
coaching clinics to help with the task. Many of us know baseball but breaking it down to a level that our
players can understand and participate can be difficult. Our coaching clinics are broken down into
Learning the Game clinics for coaches of 4 – 6 year olds and Playing the Game clinics for 7 – 9 year old
players. Coaching clinics are not solely for official coaches. If you are a parent looking to understand a bit
more about teaching the game, feel to attend one of the session. We do ask that our head and assistant
coaches attend at least one of the clinics. They are provided complimentary to the leagues courtesy of
Little League Baseball Canada, the Little League Foundation of Canada and your local District
Association. Your only expectation is to bring your enthusiasm, a ball glove, athletic wear & runners or
turf shoes & a non-perishable food item that will be given to the local food bank courtesy of Little
League & Teaching for Tomorrow. Please contact Centennial Little League Vice – President Chris Bentley
at vicepresident@cllbaseball.ca if you are interested in coaching this season. In addition to the coaching
clinic, all coaches will be required to obtain a Calgary Police Service Volunteer Screen and complete the
Centennial Little League Respect in Sport Coach Program.

WHEN DO WE PLAY?
Games / Practices will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. If the weather cooperates we hope
to start playing Tuesday May 6th. The season will continue until Sunday, June 15th. We ask that your
players be dressed and ready to play at the diamond by 6:30 pm. Outing will consist of 30 – 40 minutes
of individual team practices times followed by 30 – 40 minutes of game play.
WHAT DO WE WEAR?
A team jersey and hat will be provided for your player’s use during the season, and must be returned at
the end of the season. It is important to consider Alberta weather when choosing attire for your player.
Dressing in layers is important and having a set of gloves and toque at the game is never a bad idea. It is
recommended that all players dress in white baseball pants. Although it is not mandatory at this age
level the pants complete the team uniform. Pants can be purchased at Tuxedo Source for Sports at
discount negotiated by Centennial Little League.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO WE NEED?
All players must have the following to play;
An appropriate sized baseball glove,
A correctly fitting baseball helmet,
Appropriate footwear. This does not need to be cleats, running shoes are fine.
An athletic cup for both male and female players.
Bats are provided by the League however if your player has an age appropriate bat, they are welcome to
use it.
Balls are provided by the League and are a soft version.
Bases are provided by the League.
WHEN WILL WE GET OUR SEASON SCHEDULE?
We hope to have coach selection done, teams selected and schedules completed by April 15th.
WHAT DO WE DO IN EVENT OF A RAINOUT?
Rainouts are handled by the coaching staff of both teams. We ask that coaches wait until 5:30 of game
day to cancel games, as the weather changes rapidly. In the event the weather is good but the diamond
conditions are not, you may be assigned an alternative diamond. This will all be communicated to you by
your coach.
TEAM PICTURES
Team Pictures will take place on April 29th and April 30th at Beddington Heights Community Arts Center,
375 Bermuda Drive NW. Your coach will select the time and communicate it to the team. Included in
your registration fee is a team picture and individual picture. Other products are available for purchase
and can be ordered on picture day.
VOLUNTEER / JERSEY DEPOSIT CHEQUES
A Volunteer Commitment / Jersey deposit cheque for $75.00 is mandatory for player participation.
Cheques will be collected by your coach on your first outing.
RESPECT IN SPORT
All Parents must complete the Centennial Little League Respect in Sport Parent Program in order for
your player to participate. I appreciate many of you have completed a similar program through Hockey
Calgary, however you will still be required to complete it through Centennial Little League. If you have
any questions regarding this program please contact Teresa Fowler, Centennial Little League Registar /
Player Agent at registrar@cllbaseball.ca
I hope I have covered the bases of how the season will unfold.
I hope you all have a wonderful season and look forward to getting out on the diamond.
Regards,
Eric Carpendale
President
Centennial Little League
