Instructions for Pangaea Map
COLORING THE PUZZLE:
1) Look at the continent outlines, especially the dotted lines. The dotted lines stand
for the continental shelves, not just the shoreline (edge of land above water).
2) Use Light Blue color and fill in the area between the dotted line and the solid
continent line – for each continent. Try not to color ISLANDS light blue.
3) Choose any bright color (except green or brown), and color the first symbol of the
key, which is found in the top right corner of the first page.
4) Find the matching symbols on all the continents, and color them the same color.
5) Repeat steps 3 - 5 for each other symbol, using different colors for each symbol.
6) Color any remaining land GREEN for areas that are forest or grasslands, BROWN
for areas that are deserts or mountains, and WHITE for areas that are covered
with snow or glaciers. COLOR LIGHTLY.
7) Everything should be colored neatly, showing pride in your work.
- No “outside the lines”
- No “white paper showing through”
ASSEMBLING THE PUZZLE
A) Cut out all pieces along DOTTED lines only. Cut out the key on the solid lines.
B) Assemble this “puzzle” using the shapes and fossil clues.
D) Make sure to include your KEY, and your HEADING somewhere on the map.
E) The puzzle can be any shape, but there should be NO GAPS between pieces.
F) Be especially careful of the area near the bottom of North America and the top of
South America. Be creative to figure it out.
G) Make sure everything was done with pride and care, not rushed together in
frustration, or to just get it done.
