Grade 12 Biology University Preparation Level Course Code: SBI4U Unit Plan - Metabolic Processes (Strand C) Prepared By: Jennifer MacFarlane Suzette McLean-Fletcher Curriculum: What will students learn? Unit of Study: Metabolic Processes Summary: The focus of this unit is on learning about metabolic processes in living systems specifically, cellular respiration and photosynthesis. Students will learn the pathways, products and factors affecting these processes. They will make connections between these processes, the environment and society. Overall Expectations By the end of this unit students will be able to: C1. analyze the role of metabolic processes in the functioning of biotic and abiotic systems, and evaluate the importance of an understanding of these processes and related technologies to personal choices made in everyday life; C2. investigate the products of metabolic processes such as cellular respiration and photosynthesis; C3. demonstrate an understanding of the chemical changes and energy conversions that occur in metabolic processes.
