Executive Director Employment Contract and Benefits Incumbent:_________________________________________ Date of Employment:_________________________________ Date of Contract:____________________________________ Position Description: The Executive Director is the senior manager for the corporation and responsible for overseeing all the operations of (SHELTER). See the Executive Director Job Description for a complete listing of duties. Salary: Paid in accordance with the HAY Management Pay Plan of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Step progression will occur annually on the incumbent’s employment anniversary date at which time she will advance in (3) three step increments. Step progression will not exceed Step 25. Classification:__________________________________ Step:_________________________________________ *Salary increases will be paid in accordance with negotiated public service increases. Salary increases may also transpire through the reclassification process within the provincial government. Hours of Work: (Thirty-five (35) hour) work week, with a flexible work schedule to achieve the mandate of the position. Hours worked in excess of (thirty-five (35)), will be recorded as time in lieu on the biweekly timesheet. Administrative summer hours will be incompliance with those of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Executive Director may avail of flexible work arrangements (flex-hours). The Executive Director may avail of a deferred salary plan Lieu Time: Lieu time will be recorded in the corporations employees leave record and may be paid out at a straight time rate or used for leave purposes. On-Call: As the senior manager of (SHELTER), the Executive Director is available to the staff of the shelter on a 24-7 basis. A cell phone will be provided to the incumbent as to ensure she does not incur any associated costs. Compensation for being on- call will be paid at a rate of $125.00 per bi-weekly pay period of (SHELTER). On-call compensation will occur on a quarterly basis. The Executive Director will not be eligible for on-call benefits when she requires a staff person to perform on-call duties. Car Allowance: Car allowance is paid at a rate of $100 per month or in an annual lump sum. If the incumbent vacates the position, the allowance will be repaid for the months not served. The repayment amount will be deducted from the incumbents final pay cheque. This allowance is to cover all local travel costs associated with the duties of the position. Travel outside the (AREA), will be claimed at a KM rate of (RATE), as per the policy of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Benefits: Paid leave entitlement is calculated on a fiscal year cycle and is based length of service. Where calculations of paid leave entitlements result in fractions, the amount of leave should be rounded to the nearest one half day. A minimum of 10 days of paid leave must be used each year and the remaining leave may be paid out or carried forward. If unable to use a minimum of 10 days paid leave each year as a result of being on extended sick leave, injury-on-duty or because of bona fide operational requirements, may be exempted by the Employer. The incumbent is eligible to receive payment for accumulated paid leave when they resign, retire or are terminated. When the incumbent has overdrawn on their leave, the Employer may recover the amounts from the employees’ leave payouts. Accumulate 2 sick days per month to a maximum of 480 days. Other leave may be granted at the discretion of the Board. The following Statutory holidays: a) b) c) d) e) f) g) h) i) New Year’s Day Good Friday Victoria Day Canada Day Civic Day Labour Day Remembrance Day Christmas Day Boxing Day Pension Plan Medical Coverage Disciplinary Measures: The Board of (SHELTER) recognizes the right of the Executive Director to have a representative of the Transitional House Association of Newfoundland and Labrador present during any matter pertaining to the performance or discipline of the incumbent. Termination of Employment: Termination of employment, with the exception of “Just Cause”, may be put forth by either party with (30) thirty days notice. Severance Pay: If for any reason the employment is terminated by either party, and the incumbent has (9) nine years of continuous service with (SHELTER), she will receive severance pay. Severance pay will be paid in accordance with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador policy, at a rate of (1) weeks salary for each year of service. Modification of this Agreement: Notice of (30) days will be given by either party for modification of this agreement. Issues and benefits not covered by this agreement will be governed by the HR Policies of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
