Content of Business Plan
Resources: Use this guideline sheet, the business plan at the back of your textbook as a guide to
what you will include in each of the following parts/plans, Chapter 5, page 187, your lecture notes,
and presentation handouts to assist you with this assignment.
Format:

Entire project must be handed in as ONE UNIT – no LOOSE parts (except product prototype)

Rubric (completed at top) must be on top of completed project and attached

Report should be typed in: Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, double-spaced with 1” margins
(top, bottom, left, right) – APA style

Use APA style when formatting all report components (title page, introduction (abstract), body
of report, appendices (product drawing/blueprint, organization chart, presentation 3-slide
handouts, handouts, tri-fold brochure [if you have a five-member team], etc.), and references).

APA Running Header (on title page) and header (on all pages except appendices)

Title page: two headers, business name, product name, names of every team member,
course title including section number, date prepared

Writing style: Use appropriate business writing style. Although this is a team effort, the report
should be read as if one person wrote it, not as if individually written sections had been glued
together at the last minute. All parts must belong and fit together in reasoning, planning, and
feasibility; Write in third person; do NOT use “you” or “your”

Write saying “Management believes…..” not any one specific person and do not use “we”
throughout entire business plan. It is better to use Management.

This report must follow the sequence #1-17 above using subtitles to organize and separate
the various content areas in the report. Neither I nor SBA wants to search for the components.
There is no time to search.

Table of Contents – one page

Executive Summary – half page
See rubric
Content:
 This report must address all the above components. Each team is encouraged to supplement
information with additional relevant material (see rubric)
