Business Plan, Product, Podcast, Wiki, & Presentation Group Project Business Plan & Presentation: (0-100 pts) Student teams will develop a business plan, product prototype (or drawing & blueprint), wiki, & presentation on a designated product. This is a team (3 or 4 members) assignment. Objective: To give your group the opportunity to work in a self-managed team to apply business concepts learned in the course to the development of a product prototype (or drawing & blueprint) for sale on the open market. The team will prepare a business plan for starting a business to manufacture and sell your group’s product. Your group will present your business plan and product in person via class presentation and online to a global audience via a wiki. A podcast advertising the product will introduce the business to the class (November 4th class). Business Plan: The group’s business plan will include the following: 1. Title page – see guidelines below 2. Table of contents – see page 187 3. Executive summary – maximum length: one page & see page 187 4. Vision and mission statement – Chapter 6 & see page 187 5. Company overview – Chapter 4 & guidelines 6. Product plan – Chapters 10, 11, 12 7. Marketing plan – Chapters 11 & 12 - 5 P’s of marketing mix 8. Management plan – Chapters 6 & 7 – include an organization chart of business as appendix 9. Human resource plan – Chapters 8 & 9 10. Operating plan – Chapter 10 11. Financial plan – Chapters 14-16 12. Office technology plan – Chapter 13 - include information for all required components (hardware and software) to accommodate the office staff and was within monetary guidelines 13. Establishing ethics and social responsibilities plan – include responsibility to employees, customers, society, and investors – Chapter 2 14. The group’s business can sustain a competitive advantage against competition by: (place in bullet list) – see textbook 15. Future vision for company – plan to enter global market (Chapters 3 & 10) & other brainstorming plans of business for product and/or business (place in bullet list) 16. Content of Business Plan Resources: Use this guideline sheet, the business plan at the back of your textbook as a guide to what you will include in each of the following parts/plans, Chapter 5, page 187, your lecture notes, and presentation handouts to assist you with this assignment. Format: Entire project must be handed in as ONE UNIT – no LOOSE parts (except product prototype) Rubric (completed at top) must be on top of completed project and attached Report should be typed in: Times New Roman, 12 pt. font, double-spaced with 1” margins (top, bottom, left, right) – APA style Use APA style when formatting all report components (title page, introduction (abstract), body of report, appendices (product drawing/blueprint, organization chart, presentation 3-slide handouts, handouts, tri-fold brochure [if you have a five-member team], etc.), and references). APA Running Header (on title page) and header (on all pages except appendices) Title page: two headers, business name, product name, names of every team member, course title including section number, date prepared Writing style: Use appropriate business writing style. Although this is a team effort, the report should be read as if one person wrote it, not as if individually written sections had been glued together at the last minute. All parts must belong and fit together in reasoning, planning, and feasibility; Write in third person; do NOT use “you” or “your” Write saying “Management believes…..” not any one specific person and do not use “we” throughout entire business plan. It is better to use Management. This report must follow the sequence #1-17 above using subtitles to organize and separate the various content areas in the report.
