DYLAN QUINN DANCE THEATRE COMPANY MANAGER Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre is Northern Ireland’s only rural based professional dance company and is a key organisation in The Arts Council of Northern Ireland’s strategy for dance development across Northern Ireland. The Company Manager is a central role within Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre. The post holder will work with the Artistic Director and Finance and Administration Officer to ensure the smooth running of company activities and assist in the development of long-term strategic goals. The Company Manager will contribute to the sustainability of Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre, through the development and management of solid organisational foundations, to enable long-term growth. Main Purpose of the Job Working closely with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors to achieve the artistic, social and commercial aims of the organisation. Key Responsibilities Planning, organisational development and management • Assuming overall responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the Company and all its administrative systems. • Work with the Artistic Director on all aspects of professional production & associated tour development & programming • Maintain the programme of community classes & activities in conjunction with key venues & partners, while continuing to explore scope for development • Support and oversee staff management and appraisals in partnership with the Artistic Director and Board of Governors. • Manage and produce external contracts and agreements • Support the Finance and Administration Officer in ensuring all office systems are aligned and developed to the operational needs of the company • • • • • Work with Finance and Administration Officer and DQDT accountants to produce quarterly Management Accounts To actively engage with the Artistic Director in the strategic development of Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre, through short, medium and long term planning To enable and ensure effective and regular communication between all core staff members and freelance, short-term staff. Maintain and develop effective company systems for recording, monitoring and evaluating targets. Ensure that DQDT conforms to all financial, legal, statutory and contractual requirements Advocacy • To maintain positive and effective relations with all funders, partners, venues and commissioning partners of DQDT • To attend key events, meetings and festivals where appropriate and play an active role in raising the profile of DQDT in such settings Marketing • To develop core marketing and communication strategies and activities to promote and enhance profile of DQDT locally, regionally and internationally • To maintain and update all administrative, IT and social media systems/outlets Other • Work with AD to develop and update appropriate company policies and procedures in order to promote best practice • To maintain the company storage space • Prepare and present written and verbal progress reports to the Board • Work with Board of Directors to organise and facilitate meetings • To work at all times within the terms of employment law and in respect of any internal policies and procedures in place • Undertake training as appropriate COMPANY MANAGER PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL Experience, knowledge & skills • 3+ years office or company management experience • Demonstrable organisational & administrative skills • Professional, confident, calm and tactful approach with a strong ability to deal appropriately with a wide variety of people • • • • • Excellent planning, organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to work on own initiative Excellent ICT skills e.g. word processing, spread sheets, email, web based services etc. Excellent time management and organisational skills Sound financial skills and proven ability to work within budgets Proficient and accurate written and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail Personal Attributes • Self motivated, flexible, strategic thinker, who is not afraid of new challenges • Energy, ambition and a commitment to consistent high quality, accurate work • Willingness and ability to work in a hands-on environment • The ability to thrive in a small company environment with an evolving and changing programme of work DESIRABLE • Experience in the preparation of company accounts. • Experience in arts management • Experience in applying for public and private funding • Experience with MAC computers TERMS AND CONDITIONS Responsible to Working alongside Responsible for Artistic Director Finance and Administration Officer Finance and Administration Officer Salary £20,000 pro rata (Actual pay £12,000) Hours 24 hours per week, hours to be agreed with successful candidate. Some flexibility will be required during business times. Location Dylan Quinn Dance Theatre office, Enniskillen Term 2 year contract with the prospect for extension. Holiday 30 days pro rata per annum inclusive of Bank Holidays per calendar year Probation Period 6 month probationary period, subject to review Notice Period 4 weeks
