Position Descriptions 2014
The role of the NRHSN Junior RHC Representative is to act as a link between their Rural Health Club
(RHC) and the NRHSN, as a member of the NRHSN Council, and to contribute to the growth and activity of
their RHC and the Network.
A representative from each Rural Health Club - together with the Portfolios and Executive - make up the
NRHSN Council.
Term:
Two-year period. Year one as the NRHSN Junior RHC Representative working
closely with the Senior RHC Representative, the second year as the Senior
Representative.
Election:
The process for election to this role varies across the Network according to each
RHC constitution.
Voting rights:
The NRHSN Senior RHC Representative holds 1 vote for all NRHSN Council
decisions.
Outlook Rural Health Club Representative responsibilities:

Attend NRHSN Council/Regional teleconferences throughout the year, as directed by the Executive,
and report back to your RHC Executive Committee regarding the main outcomes of these meetings

Attend two Face-to-Face Council meetings per year

Provide two way communication between the NRHSN and the RHC to ensure that RHC members
are aware of what is happening within the Network, and to keep the NRHSN Executive and Staff up
to date with what is happening within the RHC

Submit RHC reporting requirements by due date (see www.nrhsn.org.au/reporting)

Attend the National University Rural Health Conference (NURHC)

Ensure that National Membership Database is being used effectively by your RHC and make sure
that there is a nominated RHC representative for the management of your Club’s student member
portal for the database

Facilitate effective handover to alternate representative throughout term

Submit RHC report and photos to RHWA staff for bi-annual Cooee! newsletter by due date

Ensure that Cooee! is distributed to your RHC members

Contribute to the Weekly Update Email regarding RHC events, achievements etc. where appropriate

Disseminate relevant information to your RHC from the Weekly Update Email

Ensure that up to date RHC contact details (Senior Rep, President, Administrator and other relevant)
are forwarded to staff@nrhsn.org.au

Promote opportunities that are available to RHC members as part of the Network and ensure that the
requirements of the RHC are met -

NRHSN Council Member Responsibilities:

Work with the Executive to raise specific rural health issues to media and Government

Put forward a RHC perspective on position statements and other NRHSN documentation

Help to raise the profile of the NRHSN to professional organisations through representation at
conferences / events via presentations, stalls, information posters, etc

Help to raise the profile of the NRHSN to all Health students where possible

Promote the NRHSN as a multidisciplinary Network and provide strong advocacy for a
multidisciplinary workforce
