must have proper units on all answers, and all answers should be boxed.
must have three or four significant figures (and engineering notation is recommended).

Exams
In the event of sickness/health problems or death in the family prior to or on the day of an exam, the
student must contact the instructor (by email, in-person, and phone) as soon as possible to make special
arrangements regarding the exam. No other excuses may be accepted for missing an exam.

Important Notes
Students are responsible for regularly checking their university email accounts for notes sent as attachments
and for updates regarding the class.
Cellular phone use in class is prohibited.
Professional behavior is expected of all students at all times.
Suggested references: SI sessions, MAPS office materials: Schaum’s Outlines: Statics and Mechanics of
Materials, William Nash.
Academic Integrity
Students have the responsibility to know and observe the requirements of the UNC Charlotte Code of Student Academic Integrity,
1999-2000 Catalogue, p. 375, or university website: http://legal.uncc.edu/policies/up-407 This code forbids cheating, fabrication
and falsification of information, multiple submissions of academic work, plagiarism, abuse of academic materials, and complicity
in academic dishonesty. Any special requirements regarding academic integrity in this course will be stated by the instructor, and
are binding on the students. Academic evaluations in this course include a judgment that the student’s work is free from academic
dishonesty of any type; and grades in this course therefore will be adversely affected by academic dishonesty. Students who violate
the code can be expelled from UNC Charlotte. The normal penalty for a first offense is zero credit on the work involving
dishonesty and further substantial reduction of the course grade. In almost all cases the course grade is reduced to F. Copies of the
complete code can be obtained from the Dean of Students Office. Standards of academic integrity will be enforced in this course.
Students are expected to report cases of academic dishonesty to the course instructor.
Course Attendance Policy
Students are expected to punctually attend all scheduled sessions in the course for which they are registered, and are responsible for
completing the work from all class meetings. Absences from class may be excused by the instructor for personal illness, religious
holidays, or participation as an authorized University representative in an out-of-town event. Wherever possible, students are
expected to seek permission of the instructor prior to absences.
