About Mrs. Kerns … • I grew up in Milan, Ohio (birthplace of Thomas Edison). • I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education (SLD) from Bowling Green State University. • I completed my Master’s Degree in Leadership and Administration at University of Dayton. • I live in Galena with my husband, Ryan and two children, AJ (5 - Kindergarten) and Jenna (2). • I taught special education for 4 years and 2nd grade for 2 years in Wilmington, Ohio. • This is my 13th year of teaching 3rd grade at Alcott. They must be dropped off in the office. Please provide napkins if necessary. Your child will share the treat in the classroom. It would be great for you to notify me a few days in advance too! • We have 23 students in our class! • A fun alternative to sending in a birthday treat is to purchase a book for the school library and having your child’s name placed inside the cover as a dedication to Alcott’s library. See Mrs. Benge for more details about this. Student of Week • Each student will be given the opportunity to shine for a week: complete a poster, bring in something to share (pets if prearranged only), read a part of a favorite book, bring something in for the class estimation jar Parent Volunteers & PTA • I really appreciate all the parents who have signed up to volunteer! • I will make a volunteer calendar for mid- September - December.
