• Bluetooth SIG is a not-for-profit Trade
Association, having more than 2000 member
companies, which has open membership
• The SIG values the critical review the IEEE
provides and has incorporated the vast
majority of approved comments from
802.15.1 process
• International Standard status provides
benefits to both the Standards community
and the SIG

Status of Bluetooth Specification v1.1
since 22Feb01
• Version 1.1 (v1.1) has been published and not
updated since Feb 2001.
• Some errata from the IEEE review has been
approved, but not yet integrated into the text
until now
• New version, v1.2, is in the process of being
formed: Format + Fixes + Features (next slide)
• There is an opportunity to aid and influence
the new spec

IEEE Overview
• The IEEE published the Project 802.15.1 draft
on 14Jun02 and it was made available via
Get IEEE 802™.
• We anticipate that in the next few weeks that
the informative SDL source code (Annex B)
will be provided via Get IEEE 802™.
• Based on recent BSIG>IEEE liaisons and the
summary of the edits to v1.1 to create v1.2
we understand that this will likely be an
amendment to IEEE 802.15.1™.

Status of IEEE Std 802.15.1™-2002 or
since 14Jun02
• The IEEE 802.15.1-2002 was published on
14Jun03; this is based on the Bluetooth
Specification v1.1 “L2CAP and Below”
• This standard includes the Bluetooth L2CAP,
LMP, Baseband, Radio parts as well as
introduces an SDL and the SAPs are defined
(see note for 15.1 abstract.
• The TG1 has the approved and published
source files (*.FM) and graphics (*.EPS).
