Mission
Working with the belief that science and technology is a process
or a way of thinking and acting that blends human functions
and needs with knowledge, tool use, and skills, our school
strives to fulfill the following roles:
• Offer programs that promote enthusiasm, exploration, and
academic excellence in an evolving economic and
scientific/technological community;
• Serve as a laboratory school examining and developing new
methods and materials in curriculum innovation/reform;
• Foster a broad exchange of ideas and programming through
outreach in teacher training, enrichment for students K-12 and
networking;
• Serve as a model for private sector/public education
partnerships.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology
provides a dynamic, specialized learning community for
selected students with high ability, aptitude, and interest in
mathematics, science and technology who seek a
comprehensive, challenging curriculum with emphasis in
these disciplines. In support of this commitment the TJHSST
community of learners, explorers, and mentors focuses on
the academic and ethical development of the whole student,
preparing graduates to become responsible citizens and
